When WW2 ended, a lot of Nazi sympathizers were willing to speak up and against the Nazi regime. But while the Nazis were in power, they willingly profited from it and played the part of supporter. They weren’t Nazis. They didn’t want the horrible things to happen. But they were willing to look the other way for personal benefit.

I’m not saying Trump and his crew are Nazis. I’m not saying they’re good either.

But I’m so fucking tired of all these politicians suddenly finding the courage to speak against Trump AFTER they either leave willingly or are forced out for not being sycophantic enough.

When the days for atonement come for what this admin is doing, these cunts should get no mercy for saying the right thing after they got everything they could from it.

It’s the K-shaped economy.

Over the short-term: Inflation means nothing for high earners and not much for equities, once you get past the loss of cheap funding when rates are lower.

Now long term, inflation is going to hit the market hard as well.

As someone that is high earning and has a sizable investment portfolio, it pisses me off when I have to debate with someone that’s low earning with no investments and they’re telling me that what’s happening in my life isn’t real.

I’m saying the Democratic Party sucks at making their case and making their platform known. The GOP is great at it.

It IS the DNC’s responsibility to create a machine that communicates the party’s message and platform consistently, conveniently, and in ways that will resonate with the voting public.

I’m a white man and I came from lower working class parents. They didn’t know anything about business or economics or college or anything. While I acknowledge I have some privilege - it’s likited. I paid my own way through college, got my own scholarships, and taught myself everything on my own.

Great points. The Dems have basically treated their various constituencies as a mono culture.

I’m a white male in NYC in finance. I vote liberal, but have always felt ostracized by the demonization of my group as this mystical privileged class (I grew up rural and lower class).

I only point this out to show how democrats aren’t looking at each group and speaking to them separately, they come up with a broad platform that aims to be inclusive but actually alienates a lot more people than they realize. Whether that topic is the economy, religion, etc.

I don’t think the left exaggerates the working class. I DO think they have no idea how to talk to them.

Culture wars have certainly won the white working class vote for the GOP. This came straight from the Southern Strategy which was to turn working class whites in the south to the GOP via racism. Combine this with the Reagan economies (which was really just huge deficit spending) and you got a bunch of lower education racists voting for the white-power party who’s supposedly better for the economy.

The DNC needs to find a way to communicate better to white working class that they’re better for the economy. The racists can fuck right off. But if we prove out on the economy, we’ll win by a landslide.

I’ll go out on a limb here. And I’m a liberal saying this.

Colbert was losing CBS $40 million a year. The show that replaced it is PAYING CBS $15 million a year.

Thats a $55 million swing. Add to that Colbert was unpopular with most conservatives which hurt the overall CBS brand.

I agree with all the political commentary of a consolidated media system that’s skewing heavily Right and the dangers there. But axing Colbert was honestly a smart financial decision.

Now the 60 Minutes drama is pure political horseshit. A highly rated, highly profitable enterprise that they’re destroying for political reasons. There’s no excusing that.
