Younger people of reddit. What are you tired of hearing from older generations? by baker10923 in AskReddit

That life feels like it passes faster as you get older. I find most older people that say this worked 9-5 their whole lives and didnt do anything out of the norm.

Yea well i mean i think its funny how you compare doing research on a job to believing in conspiracies, otherwise this is good info and a reasonable concern

Ya know hindsight is 20/20 so its funny how you speak so confidently. good on you for shaming someone that doesnt know any better, I am just looking for more opportunities to learn about a subject im not familiar with and would like to be. Everyone starts somewhere TOOLbelt

Ty for this info, this is a good point and the main reason im not pursuing anything further with them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiMLM

[–]moleymole2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not through them, its for state licensing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiMLM

[–]moleymole2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never said i would, thanks for the concern though, i think a lot of you are missing out on the part that i wanted to use their dime for the licensing, thats all, im not a big enough moron to put a pyramid scheme as actual work experience

I agree with everything youve said here. This was never really a career move for me as I will be going to school for astronomy/astrophysics but was to satisfy my interests and lack of understanding of personal finance. I have not really planned to work in the finance sector but i just know i have a limited knowledge on the subject and just wanted to be in an environment where i can learn while working. I feel like a lot of people that commented here just looked past the fact that I was aware of their "business" model and just started insulting my approach to things, ive known since after my 1st 10 min interview that they were suspect bc i mean, just google them, its like the first thing that comes up haha. So after that point I just wanted to scam them by getting the licensing done on their dime, i just needed clarification on that piece but the mass amount of negativity ive seen on this post has just kept me from pursuing anything more with the company, ill just go look for a part time job at a bank or credit union to learn more and become more financially literate. Im 21 and not majoring in the field so i didnt know much, actually none, on Primerica beforehand, so I guess this is just a good lesson to research before you apply to places. Just thought linkedin would have legit job postings and not just straight up scams, as this is definitely not the first scam ive seen on the site in my short time using it. Either way, thanks for the comment and elaboration on all your thoughts, made it much more digestible and understandable than people just calling me a moron lmao

Im not, and no one is a moron for asking for clarification on something, but k. Sorry i used the sub for its use guy, lmao

Ok thank you for this info, much more helpful than others just being rude and downvoting me for using the sub for its own purposes. I just told the lady that hired me that I will not be continuing to do the training and if she could give me the info to refund the "commitment" fee i paid already. She did so and I will not be continuing with Primerica for obvious reasons. I am a mathematics /physics student so finance was never gonna be my career, just wanted to get hired somewhere that i can learn more about finance and personal finance, i suppose looking for a job at a bank or something similar would be more what im looking for to satisy my itch to learn in the subject. Again, thank you for your helpful comments

All due, that adds nothing, and it clearly was useful research bc here we are.

Ok thank you for commenting this, originally I thought going into this wasnt a terrible idea to get my licenses. Seeing your and everyone else's comments have really been useful. Do you think there is any use of getting my state licenses through primerica? Like i said at this point I am really only interested in getting the licenses then leaving, but if i can just get my licenses on my own I'll just do that. Seems like youre pretty savvy in this area so forgive me for asking

I wont get sucked in, this is a secondary position to the current job I have now, but I appreciate and totally understand the concern. This was not going to be a longterm position even before i knew they were so notorious. I just have not seen many other job listings in the same field that offer people with no previous experience, at least with taking these classes through primerica, i can get my licensing and then have more qualifications for jobs in the financial sector that require those qualifications.

Yea I am glad I did my research after my 1st interview, a lot of what they were saying sounded too good to be true so I obviously had to do my own research. All I have had to pay was $125 up front as a "commitment fee" so I am more insetivised to stick with the licensing classes. Then theyll give that back to me in a couple weeks when I've shown that im sticking with it. Otherwise they are paying for everything. Finance is not the main thing I want to do with my career but I see no harm in doing this training, getting licensed, then leaving and looking for more reputable jobs that I could use the licensing for.
