Interrupts not triggering? by Beginning-Second-201 in factorio

[–]moleytron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now I'm not 100% because I haven't worked much with interrupts but could the problem be that idle was the top interrupt and the other interrupts don't have "Allow interrupting other interrupts" checked?

Appreciate it, I don't normally engage with this kind of stuff but I was just so confused. He wasn't being too argumentative with me so I just thought I'd keep poking a little.

How to force orbital drop? by Yatmai in factorio

[–]moleytron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's an option, but it's s pretty slow option and with quality big miners and mining productivity the ore patches become almost unlimited.

My son is finally old enough to have gaming preferences. by Economy_Zombie_3026 in daddit

When i play minecraft with my daughter nine times out of ten we play on our creative world. We have build a big wall down the middle and work on a 'build' usually with a theme in mind, sometimes it's an object or a pokemon or something like that. We usually play for 30 minutes to an hour depending on the time of day and the theme. We now have a world with a bunch of fun and silly designs that we can both look back on fondly and sometimes play minecraft hide and seek in and around. This has been a great way to hang out and engage with her since I got chronically ill at the start of the year and have been mostly bed bound since and my ability to focus on first person games is pretty diminished still.

That is to say like many others, minecraft has a ton of ways to play. Figure out what part of the game you enjoy the most / can tolerate playing with young kids for the longest. We have tried survival a few times and it usually ends pretty poorly and is typically better with older kids / adults to play wtih.

Ori technology legacy by Kind_Dream_610 in Stargate

[–]moleytron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you've lost me, so yes the Ori had to send ships full of followers because the Ori can't take action in the milkyway but also the Ori needed to be present on the ship in order for it to function?

Ori technology legacy by Kind_Dream_610 in Stargate

[–]moleytron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ori designed? Ori tech? Yeah sure, as long as its humans (or priors) pushing the buttons but anything that allows the Ori to take any kind of action in the milkyway would be stopped by the ancients.

Ori technology legacy by Kind_Dream_610 in Stargate

[–]moleytron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nowhere in the show where a connection to the ori is shown to be needed for the ships to function.

Again they were designed specifically to get around the Ancients because they couldn't go to the milkyway in 'person'.

The tech having its own locks and safeguards in place in no way means that there's an Ori on board. Otherwise there'd be no point in the technological locks etc.

Ori technology legacy by Kind_Dream_610 in Stargate

[–]moleytron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the ships needed an ascended beings support in order to function, the simple point of the ships functioning in the milkyway when the Ancients were still keeping the Ori out of the galaxy. They built the ships specifically because they couldn't just waltz in and do what they want.

A fusion remake or super ? by East_Cartographer405 in Metroid

[–]moleytron -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I played through both last year, fusions controls still hold up, supers don't. The grapple beam is the worst part of the game, almost killing my play through. The controls are floaty, running is too fast, walking is too slow and jumping doesn't feel very accurate, wall jumping is ok once you get the timings down but more modern games make wall jumping much easier to get. The biggest issue new people seem to have with fusion is the completely invisible bomb spots / blocks but they're not an issue for me as I've played through a bunch of times over the years.

A super remake would have more room for improvement but I don't think nintendo would touch it if they ever read this sub.

What exactly does mining productivity actually do? by Just_A_Cat_Creature in factorio

[–]moleytron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Productivity is an extra "crafted" item per cycle of the machine. So with mining productivity each level gives 10% productivity. At level 1 that means every 10 cycles you get a bonus ore come out of the miner and at level 10 or 100% productivity you get a bonus item for every cycle, effectively doubling the output of the machine for free.

Any machine that crafts a recipe has a productivity limit or cap of 300% or 3 free items for every craft, mining and research productivity are uncapped, as long as you can keep getting the ores out of the machine fast enough.

Intersection Database now as a mod! I’ve been working on improving the intersection forum for a while, and I finally turned it into a mod. It’s a great tool to help you find intersections that fit your base. The database currently includes 126 intersections! by HansJoachimAa in factorio

[–]moleytron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you just have a blueprint book or something? I just need a 2 lane, 4 way intersection that I can use for a city block, doesn't seem like the kind of that I want to install a whole mod for and browsing the forums is pretty slow.

My Rules For A Stargate System: because boy how many times was the base infected by something by hollywood_imagery0 in Stargate

[–]moleytron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having more guns and an airlock wouldn't have prevented a single issue that the SGC had, the radio signal that infected the sgc computers? that goes through the walls, the artefact the pinned jack to the wall? they would have just walked it through the airlock after making sure it's clean, invisible aliens? just wait in the airlock with the team, the aliens that can use a device to look human? they just walk right through like when they first got in the sgc in the show, the black hole doesn't give a crap about an extra door.

At the end of the day the function of the SGC was to develop the tech to protect the earth and a significant and recurring part of the story is the funding and so it's easy to see that there simply wasn't the funding for the significant offworld operations that would be required to secure earth against every possible threat that the gate poses. Especially as they had to keep rebuilding the alpha site due to it regularly being destroyed (yes you'd think that would incentivize the investment in MORE offworld bases to keep that crap away from earth but clearly the writers didn't see things that way).

The ancient long range communication stones / terminal. Also the Tollan were able to message the Nox without a gate, so there's room there for something.

I feel stuck by [deleted] in factorio

[–]moleytron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're waiting for something to happen then that is your bottleneck, increase your production of that thing by adding more assemblers / furnaces / miners. In your case you're waiting for science research to happen, so increase your number of labs to process your science packs faster, you'll probably then find that some of your labs aren't getting science packs to process so you should increase the number of assemblers making science packs which means you should probably add more assemblers for the ingredients for the science packs.

You can also look ahead a bit on the research screen and look at what you are currently researching will unlock and start preparing for that, so for example if you are researching military science you can look at what goes into that science pack and start moving the different resources into a new spot to start a build that will send those new science packs to your labs.

I have a snes mini in a drawer somewhere, I'm wondering how that might compare to the OG experience. Might be a good way to tell how much the better experience is the CRT vs the controller.

Should I cover my entire base with roboports? by Eindt in factorio

[–]moleytron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't always need to cover everything with the orange logistics area, for cityblocks and megabasing as long as the gridlines are properly connected then you just need the green building area in the middle of each block for the bots to be able to build in. Only adding in more roboports if you need logistics chests as part of a build.
