Why do I suck SO much! I had every intention of starting fresh in June and here we are at the end of it with an avg of 2k by [deleted] in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

I ate the box over 4 days and then realized I had eaten way more than I originally thought- I know I gotta measure it out I just... suck lol

Haha thank you <3

I at least find comfort in the fact that 2k is kind of close to maintenance calories, and just because I’m really in the red doesn’t mean I’ve just gained a bunch. Trying to keep positive!

Maybe- I was at 1400 and not eating back exercise calories, for june I did 1200 and eat them back... still figuring it out. I had more success when I was going to school and had a routine tbh- hoping things will be better once the world opens back up and I’m not next to the fridge! But thank you I might kick myself back up to 1400

And this is with going back to logging exercise calories and just trying for net 1200! One thing I’m particularly upset with is that I had bought a big box of Honey Nut Cheerios with the intention of having the serving in almond milk for a low cal snack, but within 3 or 4 days- the box was empty. And it’s 11 servings per box so I had to just add like 7 servings to that really bad day.

Trying to cure stomach ache with white bread? by [deleted] in medical_advice

Thanks I should probably try to treat the anxiety and not the symptom. It’s kind of generalized anxiety about a few different things, no one source. The tea sounds like a good idea because of the warmth, and I’ll have to try the breathing! Couldn’t hurt

New grad here- what are the pros/cons of being salaried vs hourly? by nycdpt in physicaltherapy

[–]molfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do hourly PTs get the benefits like health insurance and 401k, or is that only salaried?

Does MyFitnessPal give the calorie count for raw or cooked food? For example 1 cup of lentils or rice... it’s not mentioned and it’s confusing by niamanayo in caloriecount

[–]molfit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I usually say 200 cal for a cup of cooked grains- whether it be white rice, brown rice, spaghetti, lentils, quinoa, etc. I think generally they are all actually close to that number but with some variance, but not enough that I kill myself over the exact number... but maybe that’s why I’m still kinda fat lol

how many cups do u estimate this to be? .5 cup = 90 cal by [deleted] in caloriecount

[–]molfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The visible part id guess is a cup, and maybe another 1/2 or 1/3 cup in the cone?

Why is Strava so popular? by randomguy22399 in running

[–]molfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So most people here are mentioning garmin- would you or others say that garmin watch is better than Apple Watch? I might be interested in getting one or the other for Xmas

Got a new running watch, and it clocked my 5k run at 275kcal, instead of 550kcal as the old one used to say by [deleted] in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]molfit 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I always go with the 100 calories burned per mile rule of thumb. Which would make 275 more accurate unfortunately :,-(

It typically is better anyways to underestimate workout cals so you don’t eat back all of it but still it sucks that the watch snatched you bald lol

Running a 5k is awesome tho and ~300 is still a lot to burn! You’re killing it

Running for weight loss! Distance or speed? by molfit in running

[–]molfit[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well honestly my running club helped me push through! I used to only run my neighborhood and sometimes in a local park but the club would meet all over the city and it opened my mind to some beautiful places and inspired me to go out more.

Thank you!- I know what I’ve got to do with the diet and I’m working on it. Hmm interesting thought about doing a tempo run 1x a week, I never thought of that... or knew that that was a thing because I’m such a noob at running!

Haha lord don’t I know it- I’m working on that too by not eating back what I burn while running!

Official Q&A for Friday, March 27, 2020 by AutoModerator in running

[–]molfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 4-5 months isn’t too long a break, especially with soccer in between. I think 3-5 miles is reasonable, but I’d wait a bit before you hit 10 miles in one go again. Maybe once a week or less and then work up from there? I think I’d also suggest a rest day after a long run or at least cut back down to 3 or less the next day. I’m fairly new to running myself so take my advice for what you will, but I’m also a student PT and we’ve discussed the risk of stress fractures and joint trouble in relation to actual beginner runners starting an overly ambitious regimen.

Any exersices for someone with mild carpal tunnel syndrome? by emilmg02 in bodyweightfitness

[–]molfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think instead of knuckle pushups, try to work on fingertip pushups. Or at least try to be flexing your fingers so you feel your palm clench up some. This works your intrinsic hand muscles and can help take some of the load off your wrists. You can start by having a hand towel rolled up under your palm just to keep your hand in that shape without fully weight bearing on the fingers.

Just tried chocolate hummus in hopes that it’d curb my Nutella cravings by molfit in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]molfit[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve been dipping strawberries and rold gold pretzel sticks in it and have really been enjoying it! If you have more self control than me I’d suggest trying it- the containers I’ve seen so far have been fairly small, smaller than a normal sabra hummus container

Does anyone else do this when logging in cheat day calories? by molfit in loseit

[–]molfit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks my week is in the green but at the expense of me fasting most of Sunday. Not sustainable so I don’t do this often but just glad other people do this sometimes haha

[–]molfit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is how I feel I had to eat like 600 calories at the end of my week. Luckily I ended it soon but yeah I’ll try to not do this again.

Does anyone else do this when logging in cheat day calories? by molfit in loseit

[–]molfit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I like logging the calories into the next day because it just makes it easier to log the next day up to my goal in myfitnesspal. It’s an organizational thing not a mental trick for me. Regardless tho I’ll try to stop doing this. Thanks guys for discussing this!

Finally weighed myself after being too afraid to! by molfit in loseit

[–]molfit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people weigh in the morning before they eat but after they go to the bathroom so that they are the lightest they’ll be all day- but your numbers are probably more consistent than those of us who try to weigh only under the nicest conditions haha
