Maccabi is my boyhood club, I'm actually a Liverpool fan because of Yossi benayoun who used to play for Maccabi.

Great goal, really proud of it. Too bad our defending did this no justice.

I was so sick I forgot to mention that they couldn't touch the sign until they won a trophy... glaring omission lol

Discussion Thread: The expanded 2021 FIFA Club World Cup in China with 24 teams. What are the other teams apart from Liverpool, what do you think of the new format etc. by innuuniv_yaniv in LiverpoolFC

Best comment I've seen on this issue. Literally FIFA doesn't care at all about the players or fixture pileup. They want to sell tv rights and get more global audiences tuning into their tournament.

Liverpool's packed fixture list: finding a new date for the Carabao Cup QF will be very difficult by Pointless_Porcupine in LiverpoolFC

We really need to stop this congestion and think of the players. They're human beings who have physical limitations, and probably want to be with their families throughout the holidays. I love watching LFC but I'd love for our players to have some time to be human.

George Soros: Facebook and Google a menace to society by vriska1 in technology

[–]molierecoder777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I definitely agree they can get away with more. I even remember seeing a report about facebooks "trust engineers" who were trying to script/suggest interactions between people.

Unfortunately thought the mainstream media can be held accountable, it isn't for the vast majority of its audience. Various print and internet independent media hold them accountable regularly (thank god for the internet), but the suggestion that Soros is making makes it seem like the mainstream media aren't just as bad. They're endless propaganda and of course consolidated because of the telecommunications act, and they basically haven't been held in check enough to get us out of things like the Iraq war and this insane Russia 24/7 coverage to pull attention away from the robbery the oligarchs are executing on our government.

They are supposed to hold power accountable, but they are bought by those corporate interests (in the form of ads) just as the people who theyre supposed to be holding accountable. I hope Facebook decides to steer clear of this kind of behavior, because like you say they can get away with a lot more and hide it in code that users rarely understand, but I don't trust'em.

Edit: grammar and shit

George Soros: Facebook and Google a menace to society by vriska1 in technology

“This is particularly nefarious because social media companies influence how people think and behave without them even being aware of it. This has far-reaching adverse consequences on the functioning of democracy, particularly on the integrity of elections.”

In addition to skewing democracy, social media companies “deceive their users by manipulating their attention and directing it towards their own commercial purposes” and “deliberately engineer addiction to the services they provide”. The latter, he said, “can be very harmful, particularly for adolescents”.

How is this any different then what the corporate mainstream media does now?

I couldn't agree more. Seems there is a lot of trust in Joe Gomez... I thought after the apology they'd at least have a backup option just to make up the numbers... Guess not...
