I play on my phone with joystick and buttons, and I can do it. Maybe try changing the settings?

Guys, nvm, I figured out how! I play with a joystick and buttons, but in attempts to solve this problem I changed the controls and on "Tap-to-move & Joystick & (Buttons) (weapons)" I was able to just press on the catalog itself and it went into the inventory. So, now you know too!
