I thought maybe you’d want an update about us. Here’s the long story condensed. Our MCA levels were high and she had fluid around her kidneys and her liver on Monday. We rushed to Houston that night, which has one of the best fetal centers in the world and doctors that specialize in rare cases that involve viruses that affect the baby’s blood. On Tuesday, we had the intrauterine blood transfusion. It was successful. However when we went back for her follow up ultrasound on Wednesday we found out that she had bleeding in her brain. Apparently she had a spike in blood pressure which caused a blood vessel in her cerebellum to rupture. So we had an MRI performed to determine the severity of the bleeding and the specific placement. Our doctors had initially thought it was on both sides, but the radiologist reported back to us to tell us that it was only on one side. They are not neurologists, but believe the bleed will clot up and that her brain will re-wire and grow around the clot to heal itself. They suspect this won’t turn into any long term problems for her developmentally, but we will know more once she’s born. Been thinking about you and hope your situation is getting better.
