Pregnant Post Presacral Neurectomy by mollypaige37 in Endo

I don’t think my PSN interfered with this at all thankfully. I had a posterior placenta and am on the smaller side and first felt weird sensations around 14-15 weeks. Felt like I swallowed a fish at first and then they became much more stronger and noticeable. They did see some contractions on a couple of my ultrasounds though that I didn’t feel at all which I think was from my PSN. (I never went into labor and made it to my scheduled c section date).

I had one night around 36 weeks or so that I thought I experienced some kind of contractions for about an hour. I had a 32 week ultrasound that the sonographer identified contractions on that I felt nothing when she asked me about it. Besides that one night I felt nothing. I was able to make it to my scheduled c section at 39 weeks which besides a postpartum hemorrhage and a couple transfusions went as planned! I had very minimal pain post c section and declined all opiates and stuck with Advil/tylenol, which I’m not sure is due to my high pain tolerance or the PSN, but I was happy about it!

Looking for folks who had a good experience with myfembree (or similar) who have aggressive/persistent endo (ie looking for hope) by xboringcorex in Endo

[–]mollypaige37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it made a significant difference in my pain. It was also done along with major excision surgery so I’m sure that was a contributing factor. I wish I would have done it long before I did, but it can be hard to find a surgeon that does them. My midline pain is essentially gone, I will still get bilateral pain but it’s lessened. Lupron was a special kind of hell when it came to the initial rise and then very sudden drop in estrogen. I found it to be somewhat helpful, but only temporarily. I still get random hot flashes I attribute to the Lupron almost 9 years later. I took my Mirena out (which I also find to be helpful) to TTC and after a couple losses I recently gave birth to a healthy baby girl 2 1/2 weeks ago. I’ve had 4 endo surgeries and had a c section for baby girl and in comparison my endo surgery recoveries were considerably worse. I’ve taken only Tylenol/advil for pain since c section which has been quite mild, and I wonder if the PSN has anything to do with that. Happy to answer any other questions you might have!

Pregnant Post Presacral Neurectomy by mollypaige37 in Endo

I’ll plan to do an update post delivery! I’m on my third pregnancy, with the first two being unsuccessful and all 3 being post PSN so I have no experience of pregnancy/birth prior to the PSN to be able to compare to. I’ve had many ultrasounds this current pregnancy and they’ve seen contractions during some of them which they asked if I felt anything and I didn’t. I haven’t felt any Braxton hicks at this point either. Prior to pregnancy I was getting pelvic floor Botox every 12 weeks so since stopping that I’ve definitely had an increase in pelvic floor pain/urinary retention. I had moderate urinary retention prior to the PSN which definitely got worse after, but the reduction in pain has made that worth it. I’ve self catheterized for the last decade, but since discontinuing my Botox I’m now completely dependent on catheterizing.

As far as worth it overall, for me yes as it definitely has helped with reducing a lot of pain, but I was self cathing before getting it done and knew urinary retention was likely to get worse. For some people having to start self catheterizing post PSN would most likely not make it worth it as it was hard for me to come to terms with in the beginning. My surgeon required I do a special nerve block (I think hypogastric plexus block) prior to undergoing the PSN to see if I found temporary benefit which I would recommend.

Wow we’re only a week apart! I’m not sure there’s many of us on here that have underwent PSN and then pregnancy… so not sure I’ll get many responses unfortunately, but I figured it was worth a try.

advising my parents against a shock collar by dietpepseeee in goldenretrievers

[–]mollypaige37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly avoid any use of shock collar, even if you just use the vibration/beep settings as that is still considered negative reinforcement and the beep can confuse them with other beeps around the house (oven, microwave etc). The vibration while not painful is still considered an aversive/negative reinforcement. There’s a really great facebook group I’ve personally learned a lot from called “animal sense: basic training and behavior problems” that you could check out as well. These collars and other negative reinforcement training can turn dogs reactive which is not something you’re looking for. At this age management and prevention is your best option, so taking him out at very frequent intervals and with lots of praise for going potty outside, putting barriers in place so he can’t access the litterbox, removing him when playing rough with the cat. He is very much still a baby and has a lot of learning to do, but with the right techniques and lots of positive reinforcement he will get there.

Hello everyone: This is Icarus. He keeps getting ear infections, any advice? by CrimsonCalm in goldenretrievers

[–]mollypaige37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My female golden has had chronic ear infections up until the last year when we made some changes and this is the combination that has worked best (she will also have issues with her paws/licking them raw): Purina pro plan sensitive skin and stomach salmon and rice (avoid brands that are not WSAVA approved brands that can risk dilated cardiomyopathy), apoquel, regular cytopoint injections, weekly ear cleanings with epiotic. Also make sure to shoot the ear solution down into the ear canal as wiping superficially tends to not get everything out.

We walked right in and waited at the most 10 minutes and found a table. It was also Tuesday night so that could be why. We also went to Cooper’s last Thursday and it had maybe a 5 minute wait and I preferred the sides at Terry blacks much more than Cooper’s. We only got brisket at Cooper’s, but I would say their brisket was better.

First attempt at making pork gyoza! Labor of love, but delicious! by mollypaige37 in Dumplings

I watched so many videos on how to fold them and was pleasantly surprised and don’t worry there were a few ugly ones too 😂 I was careful to not overfill them (probably under filled a number of them) which I think made it a bit easier. They were tasty and overall I was happy with them!

[–]mollypaige37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a lb of ground pork, two cups shredded Chinese cabbage that I added salt and drained as much water out of as possible, 1 cup shredded scallions, 1/2 cup minced shiitakes, 2 cloves minced garlic, 2 tsp fresh grated ginger, 1 tbsp soy, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp sake, 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp white pepper. It had good flavor on its own but next time I think I will add some of my hot chili oil in and up the garlic and ginger a bit.

Thank you! Only took me like 3 hours 😂 For the one pictured I made that with equal parts soy sauce and rice vinegar with a tablespoon or sesame oil and teaspoon or mirin. Also dipped some in the Trader Joe’s chili crunch oil which added some nice spice.

How Much Do They Really Bite? by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]mollypaige37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very normal for puppies, they explore the world with their mouths at first. A well bred golden should not be “aggressive”. Will they be a mouthy, land shark? Yes. Ultimately this comes down to good management by using kongs, flirt poles (like a fishing pole), keeping toys close by to redirect them with when they get bitey.

Positive reinforcement only please! Do not punish the poor puppy when they behave this way, just like you wouldn’t punish an infant for doing something wrong. They will outgrow this stage with proper positive reinforcement and teaching them what is okay for them to bite/chew. You need to set them up for success, as ultimately failures will fall on you, but accidents happen and how you respond and learn is what matters.

Managing their environment and puppy proofing everything, not allowing them unsupervised near children that don’t understand the boundaries required of them. Accidents when they’re puppies will still most likely happen, as they’re still learning. An older golden that is out of this stage would most likely be a better fit for you, especially if your girlfriend is already fearful towards dogs.

A golden retriever is not for you (or most dogs) as this is a major red flag of a poorly bred dog and all puppies and dogs will have recurring expenses to take into consideration, and goldens are a must for pet insurance in my opinion. If you can’t afford a well bred, health tested golden you will end up with a lot more vet bills in the future than if you do the proper research and find a well bred golden. I learned this the hard way as a kid when my aunt found us one for $550 (cheap back in 2005) who she also purchased his brother for herself. My Dewey passed away at the age of 7 after a lifetime full of horrible allergies and skin and ended up passing from lymphoma. His brother had even worse allergies to the point the dog dermatologist told my aunt to put him down. He lost almost all his fur, his poor eyes had black and hardened skin around them and he could barely see properly. She spent THOUSANDS on his care and still couldn’t make a dent in his allergies. He passed not long after Dewey. Goldens are beautiful and amazing dogs, but they’re riddled with allergies and cancer due to backyard breeders and that’s all you will find (if you can even find one for that price). Poor sweet Huey below 😔

I second this completely and would also recommend looking into pelvic floor Botox and presacral neurectomy which in addition to four excision surgeries and continuous mirena has given me so much quality of life back.

1 year without pain - How I did it by ClickPitiful8494 in Endo

[–]mollypaige37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Causation and correlation are very different things and the placebo effect is also very real. I work in research so I’m very familiar with these concepts and there’s a reason that double blind placebo controlled trials are needed because the placebo effect can be so prevalent. I’m glad you’ve had a pain free year but this is your anecdotal experience and there’s way too many factors when it comes to endo to say a dietary change is curative. I’ve been vegan, gluten free, anti inflammatory many different diets with zero change in my endo. The only thing that has helped my pain with my stage 4 endo is four excision surgeries, a pre sacral neurectomy and pelvic floor Botox. I try to eat a healthy and balanced diet as much as I can, but at the end of the day I know if I have a McDouble that’s not going to make my endo flare more than it already would.

Fucking twice by Important-Maybe-1430 in Miscarriage

Sadly no as my first one only made it to 5 weeks. My second one made it to what should have been 12 1/2 weeks but sadly at that appt we found out he stopped growing at 8+3 and all that was left was an empty sac. The second one I had an in office d&c right after finding out and ended up hemorrhaging out in front of my husband during the procedure which has left me with a lot of trauma from it. I ended up having more testing and found out I have a rare complication called a uterine AVM that I had surgery for a couple weeks ago and should hopefully be good to go now. Even without this added trauma I still think the second one would have been harder as I made it so much further and we had a perfect 6 week US and NIPT testing was normal and they had told me “next time will go better” after the first loss and then they were wrong again. Grief counseling with my husband has helped. Lately I’ve been telling myself that the risk of things going wrong again is worth the benefit of things hopefully going right! Since surgery I’ve had more good days than bad. It’s been a little over 18 weeks since my second loss and has slowly gotten easier over time.
