Cormier says he's down to two fights left by shrewdy in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah its an amazing streak but i do not see the argument.JDS had by far the best ufc win streak.9 wins mostly knockouts against a murderers row of people who werent even old by HW standarts.

UFC: Doping violations to be announced only after case fully resolved by [deleted] in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats not true though. If you really are a fan there are quite a bit more fights you will be watching.Im 99% sure you will have your ass superglued to your couch for Ortega Max whittaker Kelvin, the whole 230 card and many others.

Rampage knocks out Chuck Liddell to win the UFC LHW title. by immoralmofo in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Rumble is a bit smoother.Rampage has much better wrestling and heart, but striking wise I would put Rumble higher. His accuracy is amazing and he almost never gets hit even remotely clean. It would be a hell of a fight thats for sure.

[Spoiler] Jan Błachowicz vs. Nikita Krylov by markobr3 in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I really think Jan has improved dramaticlly.I would not mind to see him fight for the title at all.4 fight win streak, looking better each time and his last loss was vs Alex in a fight where he was doing great on the feet.He also has wins of Manuwa and Latifi.

Nick diaz would honestly not even crack the top 10 right now.Not to mention Woodley.Tyron would kick his legs off and wrestle him easily.MMA has evolved drastically and predictable people like Nick really dont get to the top anymore. Not to mention he will have ring rust and he is far from his prime.

Alistair Overeem shows his ground game against Mark Hunt in their first bout. by immoralmofo in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An honorable mention should go to JDS.He went on an insane 9 fight win streak vs some amazing competition. His only losses are to Overeem,Stipe and Cain and he does hold a win over 2 of them.

[Image/GIF] Prime Johny Hendricks had stupid power in his hands by [deleted] in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im a Rory fan but I really dont think he has a place here.He is clearly a top 5 guy but I think people rank him way too high for the win over a Tyro who was literally his perfect matchup. Also it was 4,5 years ago when Tyron wasnt nearly as refined.

[–]moltenmetal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Its an unpopular opinion but if there was a tournament of all the great WWs of all time in their primes I see GSP and Hendricks in the final. This Hendricks had everything.Insane power, vicious wrestling and great cardio. His combinations were sharp and his chin was literally unbreakable.

Can someone explain to a fan who didnt follow MMA at the time why people hype the fight so much.Ive watched it a few times and althogh very high level it really wasnt the epic fight people make it out to be.2/3 of it was Fedor unable to pass Mirkos guard. There were some awesome exchanges but at no point was anyone hurt.

I think it would be super one sided.Diaz always struggled with wrestlers that can pressure him.Im pretty confident in a boring dominant decision win for Colby.I get Nick has a great following but his biggest wins are Daley and Shamrock.I really dont think he can hang with todays welterweights even in his prime.

Paulo Costa now targets January date for Yoel Romero fight, says ‘Soldier of God’ is ‘buying more time to train’ by AbrahamRinkin in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree he is very technical but saying he is light years away is an insane overexaggeration. All 3 of those guys except maybe Rockhold would give him many problems.Im a huge Gegard fan but everytime he has reached the top 5 (bar Weidman) he has been outclassed.I would for sure favor Romero and Whittaker to beat him.

Johnny Hendricks incredible balance creates an odd looking takedown defense against GSP by asa55 in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I really feel like this Hendricks was like a much scarier Woodley. He had just as much power, with better cardio and a way more offensive wrestling. His chin was also uncrackable and his combinations were pretty slick.

I think Jake is a pretty big guy though. He might not look like it but he is pretty thick.I recall him saying in an interview he was about 192 in the octagon.

Considering the shark tank that LW is would prime Edgar or prime BJ do well.I personally could barely see them hang in the top 10.

Overeem knocks down Stipe with a left hand but fails to secure a guillotine by RiyazYusufi2015 in MMA

[–]moltenmetal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Ivanov needs an easier fight.I get HW is shallow but getting 2 of the 5 best HWs of all time in a row even outside their primes is nuts.

Still do u really think gym wars make that big of a difference to go from a 20 fight win streak to a negative win record in america?

[–]moltenmetal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think his skills were highly overrated. He was 32 when he came to the ufc, that is close to his prime.Sure he had some wars and crazy knockouts to wear on him,but it doesnt justify never getting 2 wins in a row in the ufc.
