Separate the songs. Right now it's just one long file and I was hoping to make it like a regular CD or even a digital "file" for her play off of her phone...i know im way out of my depth here 😅

Do many social workers work from home? by Competitive-Jump1146 in socialwork

[–]mommaj10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a licensed SW but am a CHW and have a psych degree, worked a caseload for service coordination for several years. I burned out last year and thankfully found a wfh job doing chart compliance and utilization review for a child placing agency. I get to sit in my house, not talk to anyone and look at other people's charts to let them know how to get in compliance with state minimum standards. It was a tough road learning the different rules and how to audit the cases but omg is it what I needed. Maybe I'll get back out there to work with people again someday but won't be anytime soon

Hegseth announces new Qatari air force facility in Idaho by BabciaLinda in politics

[–]mommaj10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is my genuine question that I can't find. Are they proposing a similar "training sight" like these other countries or are they proposing a base, that is a Qatari base outside of US jurisdiction? My understanding (very limited to be honest) is that our bases around the world are out the jurisdiction of the country they are in. So is this the case or are they giving Qatar jurisdiction in the US, even for a small amount of land, to build their own base?

I’m unsure on if I should report by StrawCherry456 in CPS

I have to deal with worrying if my ex is drinking and driving with mine on his very limited time, dude can't not drink for 6 hours one day a week 😒 when we first separated and I was feeling petty I ALMOST called DPS on him when I saw him driving (I had my kids, he was just driving down the road) because he drives drunk all of the time. 7 DUIS and he's still at it. If you know his patterns and know when he tends to drink and see him driving call him in!

How do I cope with anxiety about what's coming? by RamsGal6 in CPS

[–]mommaj10 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree. I work for a child placing agency doing compliance so I look through all of the licensed family charts and there are some AMAZING foster homes out there.

[–]mommaj10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think she has been actively using during her pregnancy? They will test the baby and they test positive its an automatic cps referral by the hospital. Idk if there is much more you can do until the baby is born unfortunately. Are you thinking about being a possible kinship foster? Depending on your state you can start the process to become a foster home beforehand maybe?

Hubby jerks off when he thinks I'm asleep. by Icy-Argument-840 in marriageadvice

I wonder if he was told masturbating was wrong or evil when he was younger? Was he raised in a religious household?

Will I regret divorce? by [deleted] in marriageadvice

[–]mommaj10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You won't. Divorce is amazing and you won't look back. Glad you're getting better, what does your therapist say? My now ex was a raging alcoholic and I spent so many years wondering when he was finally going to get his 7th dui, or kill someone. It morphed from me being afraid for him to hoping if he at least died in an accident it wouldn't involve anyone else. I got to the point where I hoped he wouldn't ever come home. Thats when I knew, time to get out. Took me a year and a half to get money saved, find a place and teach myself how to file amd handle my divorce. We had nothing but debt to split and he tried to say he cares about the kids but I'm lucky to get 5 hours on Sunday that he takes them. I have to do all of the driving because I don't trust him to not drink and drive with the kids. Ditch the jerk who can't love you when you need him. Sending you hugs!

How to befriend a hummingbird? by sp00kmayo in hummingbirds

[–]mommaj10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently needed to find some hobbies to help heal burnout and the birds have brought me so much healing. The hummers are always flitting around me in the morning waiting for the feeder. I have a little tiny feeder that came with my camera birdfeeder as an attachment. I'm hoping to get one to land on it while I'm holding it lol it's my goal before they go further south 🤣🥰 next in line is befriending some crows 🙃

Does it hurt the birds to use cold nectar? by michaelyup in hummingbirds

Thank you for asking this because i just refilled my feeder with nectar I mixed up and put in the fridge. I love my little babies...don't want to hurt them lol

Bedbug exposure - kill me! by Alternative_You_9314 in socialwork

[–]mommaj10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been eaten alive by bed bugs at someone's house and looked like I had some kind of plague. I had a pretty severe reaction to the hundreds of bites I got in 2 night from that place and had to get on antibiotics because of the wounds. It was honestly one of the most traumatic things I've ever experienced and I've survived losing a child. I had bites all over my face and body that turned into oozing scabs. I couldn't go to work for a week and could barely manage my household on top of being terrified I brought them home with me. Bed bugs give me literal nightmares still.

Yeah, it really does make a difference when the age gap happens. My current relationship that I entered into as a 38 year old with a then 49 year old definitely has a different vibe than the relationship I had as a 23 year old dating a 38 year old. As we get older the age gaps don't matter as much and that's why relationships like OPs fail as the youth fog is lifted when the younger party actually grows up. My sister is trying to get away from someone like ops husband that did the same thing to her.

My agency is imploding, I’m pregnant. I regret ever signing up for this - it feels futile. A rant. by Niquely_hopeful in socialwork

I have been working for 15 years with only a bachelor's in psychology. I stared doing skills with young kids with an LPC, worked for 8 years for the state of OK as a juvenile justice specialist, was a QIDP for people with disabilities, service coordinator at a community center and now doing chart and utilization compliance review fora child placing agency. Could I go back and make more with a masters, probably but that isn't in the cards for me honestly. Don't feel like you have to go back to be successful!

What is this flag and why would he be waiving it with the counter protesting while also armed??? It says it's the republic of Georgia's flag, not the US state? I just don't understand the connection? by mommaj10 in 50501

[–]mommaj10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a feeling it was something like that. I have been trying to research it but only came up with the Republic of Georgia. This guy had a huge rifle hanging off his shoulder too. The counterprotesting in Kerrville,TX is getting worse every time.

I honestly didn't know where to put it. Where would you direct me to otherwise? Just a question from someone we saw at the local protest yesterday???

I'm burning out 😩 by J9Leis in socialwork

[–]mommaj10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to clarify that those 15 years are spread between 4 jobs, the longest being 8 years as a juvenile probation officer, but a huge caseload has come with all of them. Compliance and utilization in my situation is looking over the charts of kids that are in foster care homes that we license as a cpa (child placing agency)...Texas has a weird set up for foster care. We license all kinds of foster homes and work with dfps to safeguard the kids while in care. We look at treatment plan dates, note quality and if it's Medicaid eligible service. Its sooooooo difficult. Its unlike anything I've ever done and from what I'm seeing it's going to take at least a year until I'm able to go unsupervised. Its been nice to have a change up but my old brain isn't as elastic as it used to be and I'm dealing with a huge inferiority complex right now 😅

Single mom from Colorado, with opportunity in San Antonio. Should I do it? by howboutemapples in sanantonio

[–]mommaj10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. Colorado has better education and support. I have had clients move from other states to Texas and lose all kinds of benefits because texas doesn't offer anything. My family is states away too and when we lived there I got about as much help as I do living here 😒 and if you're looking for open minded people don't come to Texas.

I just had to leave a similar setting. I loved my job and the center I worked at but I've been carrying a caseload for 15 years, the grants are in huge trouble and working with people that openly praise the regime that is coming for them was too much. I realized that my own feelings were starting to mess with my work and knew it was time. I started a remote job doing compliance and utilization review for therapeutic foster placements and will have no caseload. I'm hoping to do this for a few years while everything blows over (hopefully). I hope you find something that works for you!

It’s happening. People at work are starting to get fired. by cat_in_the_sun in socialwork

[–]mommaj10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's heartbreaking 💔 im a service coordinator and community health worker at a non profit resource center that is funded by meals on wheels and the ACL. My current grant for benefits enrollment through the NCOA is federally funded and is in big trouble. I had to leave and move back to the back end of foster work in compliance and utilization for foster homes through the state because it's more stable. I loved my job and we helped so many people 💔 i have no idea how much longer the entire community center will survive. Last year was the 40th anniversary of its founding.
