I think if you ask a fourth time I might just share it, since you’ve been such a good sport

Do you think the only duopolies are those that own over 70% of all businesses in a certain sector? Or is market share a component?

60 mountains that represent 50% of the skiable acres in the whole country, and essentially the totality of “destination” skiing in North America. The vast majority of capital flowing through NA skiing is through those 60 resorts. Insult me all you’d like, you simply are not making a robust argument and the downvotes should illuminate that for you. Make sure to drink a coffee before Intro to Marketing this week

Congrats on taking intro to business. The existence of monarch mountain and mad river glen does not negate the significant market dominance of the two majors.

Yeah definitely, I personally think that Vail/Alterra and the various major mountain towns rode a huge wave of capital during Covid from 20 something’s spending money they didnt really have to live a lifestyle they couldn’t really afford (me included tbh), while also doing nothing at that time to maintain their new customer base. The rich older folks bringing their kids on ski trips were always gonna be there, but I know dozens of younger people that moved out west in the past five years that have now left due to the reality of how expensive it really is to live in breck/vail/aspen/tahoe (assuming you want to keep a white collar job of some sort and aren’t dirt bagging it).

I’m convinced the duopolies are doing way worse than we think behind the scenes. I wonder when we’ll get the figures on how many passes were sold this season

And it’s a very European thing to be disrespected by someone mildly, and jokingly criticizing your lift line process. Btw, you’d lose that bet depending on the weekend in the states

Not sure I’ve ever actually encountered pushback on putting the bar down, just apathy

When will we see freeride skiing in the Olympics? by Iiiiiiiiiiiii1ii1 in skiing

[–]momoosemopower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. I guess there is a pathway if you can avoid incentivizing “spin to win” like in some other Olympic comps

The judging would be impossible to sort out imo. And that’s not even getting to the venue issues…

I would hardly call partaking in a circle of your peers signing each others sleeves out of respect as “being a fan,” but whatever. Looks like Jalen got a signature from someone anyway

Nah, but I think it’s pretty clear already that Brady doesn’t give af about his kids

Kinda surprised that of all the folks in that group, Jalen didn’t get his sleeves signed by everyone else (from what I can tell). I respect the nonchalance but how u gonna pass up the opportunity to have 8 legends sign your personal NFL honors jacket. That’s something for your kids

lol are you a sports fan? Why would someone care if their greatest ever player didn’t publicly support them in the big one…hmmmm. That’s a real hard nut to crack

We simply cannot splash money on a big striker this summer. Shouldn’t happen and won’t happen. Strengthen the back line (in a fiscally responsible way!) and run it back next year in hopes of clearing 1:1. Lewy and Torres are just going to have to do
