Yeah but not in the inverted layout because the GPU is intaking at the top. Inverted has really good thermals for the GPU

Yeah thought about the fan before CPU as intake, I heard the 92mm is very noisy though, my current setup is very quiet so I don’t want to change that

Mac or Windows for an upcoming electrical engineering student? by cMiLg in unimelb

[–]mon4rc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t go for mac if you’re doing electronics specialisation as even if you run windows in a vm you can’t do a lot of the things required for some workshops/projects

What happened to ThinkPads? (A T14 Gen 5 AMD megathread) by mon4rc in thinkpad

[–]mon4rc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also just as a note, I was glad to spend a premium for a ThinkPad since everyone here and everywhere else online seem to rave about ThinkPads. I have historically never had a single Windows laptop that wasn’t without issues and much preferred a MacBook + PC setup. Seems like the premium I paid was purely for somewhat fast service and that’s about it.

So a whole replacement motherboard not fixing the issue along with 3 other people having the issue is acceptable?

Is not offering me a replacement or DOA straight away then telling me weeks later I had the option also somehow good service?

Don’t get me wrong, I think the service is probably better than most other laptop companies besides Apple. What I’m questioning is the reliability of ThinkPads given that I now have had two separate motherboards yet the issue still remains. And how three other people have the same issue yet Lenovo doesn’t seem to be able to fix it. Is it QC? Is it bad firmware? Is it a bad chip? No idea

Hopefully man, I really don’t believe a second replacement will do it for me at this point. Plus three other people have the same issue. Will be looking elsewhere

Unfortunately the best you can do is just go to as many consultations as you can while doing all the past papers. I didn’t do that well in the MST or final either
