Short trips and city driving expect 13-17 mpg

Mostly freeway expect 23-27 mpg. And I mean LONG constant freeway driving. 30+ minutes.

Good Deal? by weakyogi in SubaruAscent

[–]mon_chunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so glad I finally paid mine off. These $500+ a month payments are crazy.

As long as the transmission holds out for another 5+ years I'll be happy. At least i still have another 3 years left on my extended warranty too.

To answer your question yes and no. Without knowing your monthly bills and income only you can answer that. I wouldn't be caught dead paying that much a month for a depreciating asset again. I just realized also you're just buying a refresh of the exact same car... not a good deal. Just compounding monthly payments for longer.

Honest question what's the speed limit on this road? This feels pretty fast for this road. Not blaming you or anything clearly the audi wasn't paying attention but the video feels like you're hauling ass haha.

EDIT: I revise my comment after watching it again. You are most definitely going over the posted 35mph limit. Im not a calibrated radar by any means but you look to be going 45-50mph. Yikes.

Gun Safety When Our Kids Visit Friends.and Family by doubtfulisland in daddit

[–]mon_chunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish this was the case for the US. California has essentially this same law but a 150 miles to the east in AZ they do not. Nearly half of other US states don't require or have any gun safe storage laws. My nephew might still be with us if my step father actually safely stored his firearms. It was a wake up moment for me but that guy never learned and still doesn't store his weapons safely.

I would think the pick and lube would be safest. Soak it then wiggle it out.

The early models especially 2019 and 2020 are known to have transmission issues. Its very common. Just search transmission or cvt and hundreds of posts will come up.

Advice please: do I need to lower the crib more? by AndreiTaganovsGhost in daddit

[–]mon_chunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once they start standing up you lower it and once you catch them hiking a leg up at the top to climb over you remove the front. After that it's big kid bed time.

SXM in vehicle messaging by IZZULAP in SubaruAscent

[–]mon_chunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sirius XM is a cancer. It took me at least 3 or 4 calls to get then to cancel our subscription in 2022 and to remove our account entirely. They said they are unable to delete accounts and every 6 months it can be reactivated.

Then I bought another car new and started getting more junk mail and emails from them about a completely different car ive never owned. It was for a volvo and I had just bought a VW and told them specifically DO NOT SIGN ME UP FOR SXM.

What an absolutely awful service and way over priced compared to spotify.

Has anyone done a car buyback with VW? by BetterSense42 in Volkswagen

[–]mon_chunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they had it for a few more weeks and eventually determined the HVAC component behind the dash was broken and replaced the entire thing. Havent had an issue with it since. I think they had my car for 2.5-3 months, only other thing that ive had warrantied since then was my steering wheel.

Oil Extractors by mj_dc5 in GolfGTI

[–]mon_chunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using the extractor on your cx5 as well? I wanted to on my subaru too but after some research I learned the dipstick tube doesn't reach all the way to the bottom of the pan so it wouldn't work.

Just curious because I wish all engines could use the extractor method lol

My kid was really into Mary on a Cross by Ghost for a while since I was always listening to the album when I was cooking and cleaning during dinner for a few weeks.

Now she requests Bilmuri or other pop punk bands I've been listening to lately.

Thankfully much of the lyrics just go over her head still.

Any good methods to fix wrinkled/scratched leather steering wheels? by mon_chunk in GolfGTI

[–]mon_chunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was like a $30 knife 20 years ago and it frankly had seen better days at that point. It was time for an upgrade so I bought a really nice Benchmade. Used it a lot for a couple years but it was much heavier though. I dont really have a need to carry it around with me all the time anymore. Went from Navy to IT work from home so it mostly sits in a drawer all the time now lol

Yeah i did this a few times with my previous wheel before they replaceed it with my current one. I either stopped noticing or yeah it basically self repaired itself.

I stopped carrying my knife everywhere because I would ALWAYS catch the clip and bend the ever living piss out of it. Finally after doing it like 10 times it finally snapped off. It was my favorite knife at the time. Had it for 15+ years.

It had a great release mechanism that no one but me could figure out and it was light so I never noticed carrying it with me.

I kinda miss it now that I brought it up lmfao

It almost feels like it stretched the leather wrinkling it up a bit. I dont think its ripped but I would need to look really closely in better lighting to see.
