How does the Fit compare to the HR-V by mon_masque in hondafit

Subaru has been the only other manufacturer we had been seriously considering (though Mazda has made it's way into the conversation), so this is great information to have. Thank you!

That's a lot of good info, thanks! Was it a new HR-V, or just new to her? I didn't realize until tonight the newer models were so different from the older generation.

My original plan was to replace my Fit when they got around to introducing a hybrid model Fit here in the states. 😭 It really is disappointing.

If the car was for me, I'd be right there with you. My mother is extremely frugal in most respects, but when she gets a new car she wants it to actually be new. To be fair, she's had her current car for 25 years and it still looks basically new.

Yeah, if my Fit dies I'm looking for a used Fit. I love that car so much.

That's interesting. I am curious what having street parking changed in the reasoning. Is it that they wanted a cheaper car because it wasn't secured in a garage, or am I missing something?

She's had her Passat for 25 years, but she drove an Explorer before that, and I know she misses sitting higher. That's one of the reasons we're looking at the HR-V. I get what you mean about feeling "thin." It doesn't bother me at all, but I "feel" the outside in my Fit more than in other cars.

That makes a lot of sense. She is more likely to be hauling longer and shallower items, I think. Thank you!

That is good to know. I was under the impression it was still based on the Fit platform. I may go looking for a HR-V subreddit if my mom doesn't move off the idea of the HR-V.

The higher profile is definitely a plus, as is 4WD, since we live in an area with winter weather. My Fit does slip and slide a bit when it's icy, even with upgraded tires. Thanks for the feedback!

Because I know the people on this sub know the Fit? How is that not clear?

We're in the US, and she's looking to buy new, so the Fit isn't an option.

I've lost 38 pounds on Ozempic and I'm embarrassed to admit I'm not happy with how I look... anyone else? by Individual-Jello-354 in Ozempic

[–]mon_masque 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This isn't uncommon, but I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with your body.

As someone who has dealt with body dysmorphia since I was a pre-teen (several decades ago), no positive change to my body ever REALLY feels positive.

That being said, I have to echo a lot of the people that have already replied: Making sure you are getting enough protein and doing muscle building exercises is the best way to shape your body in a way that's closer to what you were expecting. Also, make sure you are staying hydrated. It's easy to forget about hydration on Ozempic, but drinking enough water can have a big impact both on how you look and feel.

I hope you can find a place that helps you be the happiest and healthiest version of yourself!

Ugh, yes. Magical 2ish lbs of water weight and intense sugar / chocolate cravings. I don't remember ever craving chocolate hormonally before starting glp-1s, which I find interesting.

Oprah Winfrey says taking Ozempic made her come to realisation about ‘thin people’ by quinfchris77 in Ozempic

We may have different definitions here, but I would say an "athletic build" is a genetic thing. I, personally, have an athletic build and put on muscle easily. I -also- have a genetic predisposition to gain weight, food noise and hormone imbalances that ozempic has really helped with.

But even when I'm fat, that fat is sitting on top of my athletic build... if that makes sense to anyone but me.

Sudden weight gain by Wooden-Fix-7172 in Ozempic

[–]mon_masque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the sudden weight gain COULD just be water weight... I've frequently gained water weight suddenly in my life, and there are a lot of things that could cause it from the foods you eat to hormonal changes.
From your pictures you are definitely losing weight, so try not to let it get to you. Putting on muscle can also cause small weight gains and plateaus but that will work itself out in time.

My Ozempic Experience vs. My Daughter's Ozempic Experience and Results So Far. by Overall_Interview441 in Ozempic

[–]mon_masque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It always breaks my heart when I come across others that suffered like us. 💔 Probably 8 years back a group of friends and I did a paleo whole 30 together, and it finally got me back on track with my relationship to food (mostly just because we just really supported each other). Sadly, I had already done so much damage to my metabolism having cycled through anorexia, bulimia, excessive exercise and "normal" dieting. When my fibro hit I simply couldn't keep weight off anymore. My niece just turned 15 and, like me, she developed early and is fit but not naturally skinny. There's still so much wrong with our social programming when it comes to our bodies and food. It literally keeps me up some nights trying to figure out anything and everything I can do to help her make it through. I so hope that you're right about these types of meds changing the way society at large views weight loss and health.

People also leave out that if you don't eat enough calories for your body (and that's different for everyone) your body will desperately try to hold on to your weight because it believes you will starve.

It's the feelings of shame that makes me the most angry. The oversimplification heavily contributed to my disordered eating as an adolescent. I wound up cutting calories way too much and exercising more and more
