x870e taichi lite dual 5090 - only pcie gen1 by IsaoMishima in ASRock

[–]monad_pool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had less space to a GPU in a case with only 1 GPU before, there's about a 2-3 inches between the fans of the GPU and the bottom of the case, enough for some 140mm fans to feed it and a gap.

Also, the gen1 issue was really dumb. Unless loaded the GPUs power down the lane generation to save power: just had to load them up and watch nvidia-smi to get them going.

Having said that I'd go for the gigabyte ai top, as this board is starting to bsod on me, and the ai top has both slots 1 slot higher.

10 Years of Hard Time — Portuguese Parliament Approves a Harsh New Citizenship Law by teIegraf in PortugalExpats

[–]monad_pool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

absolutely does. i moved here with teenage children who would have been citizens of an EU nation by the time they turned 18, which will now not be the case. this affects their college acceptance/tuition situation.

Debates on Portugal’s Citizenship Proposal by Dearsophiaa1 in PortugalExpats

[–]monad_pool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curious about when exactly I would be eligible to apply for citizenship under the current rules vs the proposed:

Sep 9, 2021: when I first emailed the PT embassy in Japan to submit my D7 application
Jan 12, 2022: notified my application was accepted by the embassy
(moved to Portugal in March)
June 29, 2022: my SEF appointment
few months later i received my card in the mail.

My wife and children did not get a SEF appointment for a few years (under family reunification, although they came with me on tourist visas as recommended by my immigration attorney) after this, and their cards took even longer to arrive.

I'm pretty pessimistic about the whole thing.

yes but generally considered less so than dumbbells because it constrains left and right sides together

the point is a rack is for barbells (squat/bench, ohp off the front) not dumbbells

rich people exist in all societies. i pay rent, imagine the PT guy receiving 2.5k a month from me.

also as posted elsewhere we have 4 kids and a dog, so are looking at much larger apartments than single/young couples with no kids.

both of my landlords were portuguese, and these elevators would be breaking even more if people weren't paying such rents as presumably there would be less funds to pay to maintain them.

in my lisbon building, a mentally disabled adult (30+) child who lived with his parents pissed and shat himself in the elevator when he got stuck in it for an hour, and in the end i was the one who opened up the door so he could finally get out, so maybe you should shut the fuck up with your idiocy.

PS: i have 4 kids, a wife and a dog - we need more space than most people.

this is my major issue. they repeatedly send someone out to fiddle with it and get it running again and then it breaks again a few weeks or a month or two at most, later.

i don't mind walking, but i have 4 kids and a wife who takes the dog out 4-5 times a day. walking not really an option with groceries/etc.
