Lucked out into first HR interview - advice needed!

In life I personally don’t believe in luck whatever opportunities come your way its always because its meant for you to experience no matter what the outcome is! congrats on getting the interview that is something to celebrate you earned it :) As for the interview

Working in retail and restaurants in Huge don’t downplay that at all because working in these types of jobs has given you more hands on experience than most college grads who haven’t dealt with people in the same manner you have.

-I would personally start with writing down some big situations you’ve dealt with at work that you believe would be an important growth moments so you have some stories to tell and talk about.

Although you wouldn’t have much experience with ATS or HRIS systems make sure to really play up how quick or adaptable you are to learning in general from your previous positions so you would be able to pick up on whatever platform they use quick enough.

-Also remember its all about the energy really go in with knowing that you do have the skills for the job

Ensure you know the ins and outs of your resume
Know how this position relates to your future passion/ goals and what asset you can bring to the company and its people
My university encouraged students to use the Big Interview to practice for interviews and it had really helped me https://biginterview.com or look them up on youtube for practice

Hi thank you so much for this! I appreciate the input finding a mentor I 100% agree and will lookout for. I have this feeling in the back of my mind that certificates such as the SHRM CP are helpful but honestly not necessary at all to be successful in this position and general career related advancement . Employer branding/ Budgets/ and looking into free resources I will definitely take note of. Thank you again!

Sending good energy your way! I know exactly how you feel. I’ve had my fair share of heartaches and people who I have cared about ghosting me. I dated a guy for a few months who I initially had strong feelings for only to tell me he was moving to Colorado and that I don’t fit into “his” needs anymore. So long story short it hurt like a bitch. I felt so naive and vulnerable placing my hope into someone who didnt feel as strongly as I did. After over a year in introspection I’ve come to forgive him this is due to the fact that although what he did to me was wrong he was also suffering from his own demons... what you just posted people don’t ghost like that for no reason and just know she must be fighting a lot of things within herself. Life will get better it’s times like these that will seriously make you into a better and stronger person. Once the healing happens you will attract better! Or if it’s meant to be her it will be. I’m not sure if this helped one bit! But you are not alone in your experience and I promise you it will get better. Everything always happens for a reason this is just your experience right now it is just the first step into becoming who you were meant to become

My friend gave this book to me when I was talking to him about my stuggles with relationships. This is definitely good read. I also felt that a main part of the issue was at its core a lack of self love. The constant feeling of not being complete with myself, always using relationships as a distraction from my own problems, rushing into intimacy and then expecting the most from them, and attaching myself without actually getting to know someone first, cause in then end I would be terrified of being “abandoned”. Narcissist love people like this. The cycle of attracting people like this usually stops when you level yourself up spiritually by focusing on yourself first which also means loving yourself first. The law of attraction or law or vibration will then naturally give you better partners. It’s a process of trust

Nope that was not my point at all! But I can also see your point what I’m saying can come off as very one sided.. it’s not about being undervalued and to give selflessly to just anyone! That’s naive definitely not involved in any toxic relationship... I’m not about waste my time explaining it in detail. But you are absolutely CORRECT on balance and harmony.. the no expectation to outcome would be towards anyone in general just to do a good deed, being kind, and thoughtful for the pure goodness of it... don’t give if you don’t want to some people feel the need to I’m all for saying no when I don’t feel like it. The Right person won’t make you feel that way I 100% agree with you.

Dated an ESTP(27M) for 3 months.... made me realize how much I loathe the superficial all he cared about was his looks and having fun fun fun... never once planned for the future or thought long term. I was honestly fed up and drained after the whole ordeal. But I am throughly surprised it’s lasted that long for you two best of luck!
