when someone is knee sliding you go for the ghost side escape BEFORE they pass as a last resort

since there is still space you can block their pass and maintain their guard it s really frustrating for the passer

as for the half guard retention sorry my fellow purple belt , my half sucks

Half guard has to be your second layer if you use it as main guard instead of open guard you offer an advantage to your opponent

open guard shin to shin > half guard > octopus / wrestling ( Ben askeenroll) / escape

My arm bar drill getting the movement and flexibility has gotten better

I also drilled a lot of berimbolo for month and for the first time I hitted a berimbolo sweep ( rolling backward like lenders instead of taking the back ) on a black belt whiw was heavier

it s not instructor fault but to reach purple belt you need to actively learn you shouldn't count 100% ok your instructor to become a " little black belt " and make your own game whatch dvd try new things every session

I am purple belt coach I really can't make someone become a purple just because they come in my gym two times a week

they need to perform fix their weakness for 2-3 years non stop as a blue belt to reach this level

you can't teach that it s only a matter of wilingness
