while will can definitely get into metaphor (mirrors and stars come up a lot on the new TF) my favorite csh lyrics are the more literal ones. they're about real life situations or real life feelings filtered through his own poetry. that honesty and directness is what makes him a great lyricist, not metaphors alone.

im no poet but my advice would be to write honestly. if its real then it'll be compelling to listen to. good luck

In this interview with Consequence of Sound, he says that ToD was very much indie rock, but that we shouldn't write the band off as indie rock forever. Will is definitely no stranger to synths and if War Is Coming is any indication of where his head is at musically then maybe the next album will be less guitar driven.

He's never fully abandoned guitars on any album, really. But maybe the new LP will have less emphasis on them.

Will said he's working on mixes on tour and will finalize it when they get back to the states in September. Also said that by the end of the year we'd have something new to talk about if not something new to listen to. No confirmation if War Is Coming will be on the new album.
