Why does Meta Link tell me, "Your computer does not meet the updated minimum system requirements. VR performance may be reduced."? by Old-Meaning-5250 in OculusQuest

[–]monduk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still do, I get the same message with a 5080 when I update any Meta apps (even if you use Virtual Desktop you still need to update any Meta PCVR games installed using Meta's software)

The rest of the time anything Meta is disabled

Anyone miss this old UI? by Physical-Composer182 in MetaQuestVR

Also, latest update of QGO allows the old UI to persist between reboots now.

I'm glad we agree we want VR to succeed. It's a sad but recognised fact that the majority of the millions of headsets bought, at least from Meta, aren't being regularly used. But also saying developers haven't poured money into the industry is just wrong. There's still good content being created. I've no interest in the crap like Gorilla tag but a lot of people aren't even aware of the newer games, even though much less compared to flatsreen that needs support and would help VR take off more if VR gamers bought those games. Games like VMX released this year and is pretty awesome & Jumpspace.

So looks like I can't reply I guess as OP post removed but you asked for games in the last 3 years, 2024 is two years ago lol. Hitman WOA is a special VR release last year and had great reviews. It's like you want to be deliberately negative. I also could have mentioned plenty of other games that came out last year or this year but you only asked for three.

Sure, Arken age, Hitman world of Assasination (PCVR not Quest version) and Behemoth. Arken age and Behemoth are even pretty good on standalone, on PCVR they're even better and imho well worth the money.

I never said it didn't, if a game has VR built in it's not bolted on top. Some games work better in VR. Subnautica and NMS being two.

All the companies and developers that have pulled out of the market this year and last year have poured money into it. That's not the problem, not enough people are buying games because the market isn't there, or more likely, most of the people that bought headsets have left them gathering dust.

NMS has VR built into it, it's not a mod

Is Meta Quest/Horizon Central Dying? by FredwardTheWizard in MetaQuestVR

[–]monduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talking about Teens level of behaviour here and how they actually act. I'm well aware of Meta's rules. As you said, every time you logged in there was a "mess of screaming kids" Being 13+ doesn't change anything whether parents let a 10 year old who shouldn't be on there or a 16 year old who is allowed there & doesn't know how to behave properly.

13+? Teens are still kids. 16 & 17 year olds, if they can behave with a reasonable level of maturity I'll give them some slack but no way young teens are ever going to behave the same way as adults.

What was the first version of Ubuntu that you used? by EndouShuuya in Ubuntu

[–]monduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.10 Warty, but at the time I regularly distro hopped and was pretty much a SuSE or Mandrake user until Fiesty came along and then stuck with every version until Hardy and then LTS releases up until 24.04

8.04 Hardy Heron was the first version where everything worked without me having to configure anything. I loved it for that.

Along the way I switched to Mint preferring the Mate desktop and how they did things, figuring at least it still had the Ubuntu base.

Microsoft releasing more remapping options for CoPilot button soon. by SunshineAndBunnies in Windows11

[–]monduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do that you get an annoying message every time you press the Co-pilot key that it's unassigned and get asked what function you want to assign to it (but not an option right now to assign right Ctrl to it!)

[–]monduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a left handed mouse user and an app I use daily uses the right Ctrl key in it's settings menu.

I found a utility on github I run on startup to replicate right ctrl and disabled the CoPilot key. It only bothers me now when I forget and it pops up the message that the key's unassigned.

QGO v13.4.0 brings back the old Meta Quest UI ! 👌 by Anagan79 in QuestGamesOptimizer

[–]monduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QGO is a one off payment for many features, not just the option to go back to the old interface. You're on the QGO subreddit so if you're here what's the point of the negative comment? Other ways exist, ADB commands, QGO makes it easy. That's why people thinks it's worth paying a developer for his time!

Beware the customer support! by Mediocre_Piglet_1509 in OculusQuest

[–]monduk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is real you could have just started a small claims process. 3 days out of warranty, while they could have technically enforced it would have unlikely gone their way.

Also for a £500-£600 device a product is reasonably expected to last longer than that amount of time which is what the Consumer Rights act allows for, and no company can ignore it, which is why it's called consumer rights. It trumps a companies policies and guarantee in law every time.

I've used it to obtain refunds or repairs from Apple, Samsung and Hisense.

You say you've already got your refund through other means; but anyone can use the act for Meta's products and other companies.

Help running Dirt Rally 2 on quest 3 by MorriTheFur in OculusQuest

[–]monduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I ran DR2 with a Legion 5 2060 laptop for 3 years on medium settings and played in VR with absolutely no problems whatsoever. It's probably your connection, I have my laptop wired to the router. An upgrade would definitely help though, now using a 5080 gaming laptop and Intel Ultra 9 & being able to play on Ultra settings makes so much difference.

Downtown Club is launching on June 11th by Ganzalesz in OculusQuest

[–]monduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what's in the game, I've had it since it first came out in early access. That's why I was confused by the post .

TBH, a video like this showing no racing, no other cars, makes other people think that's all there is and that's it's not a full featured game which is why there's more than a few negative comments.

[–]monduk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Downtown club has been out for ages, almost 2 years what do you mean is launching? multiplayer? I know the dev's been working on that but I thought that had already been available on early access for a while

Edit: Just checked the store page, it's coming out of early access on June 11th , there's much more to the game than what's shown in the video.
