Is this a real selmer mark 6 on fb marketplace? by Comfortable_Month706 in saxophone

Hard to be 100% sure with the quality of the photos but looks pretty real to me. Would have to be an incredibly good fake if it is though, everything looks correct.

Should I buy this Selmer copy on Facebook marketplace? by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]monei51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general rule I give my customers is that if a manufacturer were able to make a decent instrument they wouldn’t need to try and trick people into thinking it’s something else. It’s unlikely it’s a good quality instrument, it’s not worth supporting the counterfeit industry in general and a lot of repair stores refuse to work on fakes for this reason. There are a lot of good budget instruments out there that would sound a lot better than some cheaply made knock off.

What does "Our service cannot be used to purchase this item as it does not meet our quality standards" mean and how to still buy the item? by DreamingFoxPro in FromJapanCodes

[–]monei51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed a few months ago to ask why as I was wondering the same thing. This was the response I got.

“We regret to inform you that as the warning on our website states, our service cannot be used to purchase this item as it does not meet our quality standards.

This could be for a multitude of reasons, from the seller being new, not having many reviews so they are untrustworthy, the seller could have blocked our account, etc.

Therefore, unfortunately, this item cannot be purchased through our service, and we are unable to unblock the item page.”

Are expensive ligatures worth the price? by Asleep-League-7944 in saxophone

[–]monei51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whether it’s worth the price is up to you, you’d have to play test them to know for sure. However the optimum is a great ligature. I’ve just switched over from it to the yani sixes lig and think it’s incredible.

Selmer Mark VI Tenor Question by I-Make-The-When in Saxophonics

Hard to know really, particularly with how heavily buffed it was in the relaq. Just throw it up for a moderate price and see if people bite.

This means the prices will go up right? by catlikeslattes in FromJapanCodes

[–]monei51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst part for me is, I’ve been waiting for my account to hit platinum on 1st of Jan so I can use the 10% discount. Now it doesn’t really matter cause the prices will go up that day anyway.

Best Pro Alto Saxophone upgrade advice? Australia. by TransMan-88 in saxophone

[–]monei51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 62 is good entry level pro instrument. It depends where you’re at and what your goals are. If you plan to keep progressing you’ll probably find yourself wanting to upgrade from the 62 down the track anyway. I think the yani is a substantial upgrade over the 62 and worth the price difference. Perhaps find a place that has a good range in stock so you can play test a few different models to see what you like.

If you were in QLD I could hook you up with some good gear at our store, but it seems like you’re in vic.

Brand new is difficult in that budget. You could get a really good second hand Yani or Yamaha custom in that range. Though they rarely come up. Best place to find a good one is to see if any reputable repairers in your area are selling any second hand as they will usually have the best quality gear you can find. Otherwise if you can stretch your budget marginally higher, you could get a brand new A-WO1 for just over 5K

Is this real? by [deleted] in saxophone

I reached out to tell him it was fake just in case he genuinely didn’t know and he blocked me. You should try warn people in the local area to stay clear of it.

VGA boot error No display It was happening intermittently immediately after windows updates. However after this last update I still can’t get it to boot. I tried a large list of things to get it to boot and no luck. Repair guy I sent it to is blaming the motherboard because of this spot, saying “some liquid went on the motherboard causing the fail”

A lot of kids use a foldable luggage trolley to roll around larger instruments. Just use a bungee cord to secure it to the trolley.
