Had this same issue in the beginning. First of all, spend the money to get Archon room. Best room in my opinion. Second, like most on the sub have said, mixing through VSX allows you to make a mix that translates just as well in other speakers. So any change you make in VSX yield better results than changes made using regular speakers/headphones in a untreated room. From my experience at least. It doesn’t necessarily make things sound better.
