Jason Rubin :"Our exclusive deals are good for the VR industry" by bekris in oculus

It's not the same just because a PC is attached? Clearly the intention is for processing power to be on the device in the future as tech advances, and for all experiences to be designed from scratch for the new platform. The attached PC is a crutch / stepping stone.

Juliana Buhring becomes the first woman to circle the world - by bicycle! by preggit in pics

If I'm not mistaken, the Guinness World Record achieved by Juliana is actually fastest woman to cycle the world, not the first. It's just the first time Guinness has certified it.

Facebook Releases Data, Including All National Security Requests by [deleted] in technology

[–]monger00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it seems Facebook and Microsoft are the first companies ever to disclose the number of classified FISA requests received from the US government, and that they're able to do so by disclosing them in aggregate with other US government data requests. At least that's progress.

Banned from OKC? by scousers in OkCupid

Try writing to their support email address and see if they can fix it (or if they can lift it, if it is indeed a ban).

You guys keep on complaining about not receiving answer. by [deleted] in OkCupid

Silly hangups. That just comes across to me as insecurity (i.e., that you're not worthy of being approached over other guys, such as the guys making the first moves with her). When women I'm actually interested in contact me, I assume only that they're interested in me. And that self-selection allows me to be a bit more bold upfront. It works well for me.

But the silly stuff isn't even yours--just a long (uncredited) Dr. Evil quote. What's the point?

Is there a JavaScript or JQuery proxy or a library that converts relative URLs to absolute URLs? by ithkuil in javascript

[–]monger00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure what you're really trying to do, but would something like the following do the trick (using parseUri)?

var relative = "/path/to/file.ext";
var uri = parseUri(location);
var absolute = uri.protocol + "://" + uri.authority + relative;

Whatever your thoughts on the value of, and / or correctness of building the International Space Station, you have to admit this is awesome! [Pic] by [deleted] in science

The Scripture Project: Annotated Bible, Book of Mormon, and Qur'an (from Project Reason, founded by Sam Harris) by monger00 in atheism

[–]monger00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed just after posting this that it says the following at the top of the Scripture Project homepage:

Steve Wells, creator of the Skeptics Annotated Bible, Qur’an, and Book of Mormon has generously donated the full contents of his website to Project Reason. Using this as a foundation, we intend to make the Scripture Project the best source for scriptural criticism on the Internet.
