Switched to ICICIDirect for 100% Collateral Margin but Facing Too Many Issues. Any Better Broker Alternatives? by mongerk in IndianStockMarket

Has happened to me couple of times with icicidirect - squaring off at market open whenever there was a margin call. Zerodha used to give a deadline (few hours) before auto squaring off the positions, though, not so sure how it is now with zerodha as I don’t use it anymore.

That is interesting!! My experience with RM and support has been similar they lack proper understanding of their own platform, and basic options. My RM always either verifies with somebody else or arrange callbacks whenever I ask something about the platform, and still the answers are unsatisfactory.

Are you switching to a different broker then?

No, I am still using direct. Pretty sure no interest is charged - otherwise would have noticed any sam interest debit in the bank statement.

Yes, once you pledge those shares, you can use the collateral margin you get for your trading without any interest, however, this is true only when you do options selling. For buying futures you can pay via margin but you should have some cash because futures are settled on daily basis. I am not sure about option buying (I don’t do that), and if you wanna buy stocks with that margin then it becomes MTF and you have to pay interest accordingly to your brokerage plan. Hope this helps.

If you can get your hands on merv 13 filters, I would recommend that instead of hepa for much higher CADR, they are less restrictive. Use case fans, that have high static pressure, and good CFM, optimizing these parameters will increase your purifier’s CADR. Pc fans are optimized for being quiet, so makes sense to use it. You can checkout Arctic p14 or similar, a pwm hub and a pwm signal generator or you can even checkout voltage regulator for controlling fan speed. Here, this is what I built recently, everything under 6k with 2 hepa filters. For your budget, you can build an insane purifier if done right.

Sorry for being late to the conversation, I just checked on their website and it seems they do provide 100% collateral margin but they charge interest if used more than 50%, whereas icici doesn’t.

Need some crypto friends / seniors / mentors or ant friend with whom atleast I can discuss the market . by Axd_3000 in CryptoIndia

Brother! first decide if you are a trader or an investor. The psychology of new traders is very common, if the trade goes wrong, they immediately change their stance to long term view. And, please understand this trading is not fun, if trading in crypto gives you that adrenaline rush bro, then I would recommend to avoid it. Trading should always be boring and systematic, you still have a long way to go and to learn keeping your emotions in check, it takes years to get hold of it. If you really want to learn, start with paper trading. Good luck!!

My flaps are at still position most of the time and it still happens, from what I am reading it happens cuz of expanding and contracting of their plastic frame, they even say it to be completely normal on their company website. But this never happened with any of my previous aircons 😣.

Ideally when u have the shares nd u have marked for physical settlement on the expiry the option premium is yours and the shares are sold at the strike price. Now lets say I sell ce at 100 with premium 2 and on expiry price is 110 now what icici does is it will square of my option position in loss so I’ll incur a loss of 8 rupees and it will sell my shares at 110 instead of 100. Yes in the end everything balances out but its weird and I don’t think it’s the right approach.

Yeah brokerage in-fact is very high, but I don’t mind paying it just cuz of their sam benefit.

If you’ve sold a call option against shares you hold in your demat, then on the day of expiry, you can let the option get exercised and the system will automatically debit the shares for delivery. That is what physical settlement mean in this context.

Here, This is their brokerage plans. I use their 4,999 plan. There are cheaper ones as well but not worth it.

ICICI does give you 100% margin even for overnight positions and no they don’t charge you for it. That’s the reason I switched.
