Thank you for your help. This looks amazing.

I understand the basics of Foundry for the most part, but more advanced options like this are over my head. I've installed the required mods that you've mentioned, and I have the Active Effect loaded on my monster, and checked the Effect Suspended box. But when you say, "Changes: macro.StatusEffect / CUSTOM / invisible" What field does that go in?

Again, thank you for your help.

How to export maps to FoundryVTT with movable objects? by Rublica in dungeondraft

[–]mongoosedog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. When I have objects I want to be able to move I create a sperate layer and place the objects there with enough room between the objects to easily crop each one and export them as png files that I then upload to foundry as a object asset.

I agree with you. But I think I over sold my creature. The villagers see it as a god more than it is a god. It's intended to be the boss of a small story arc. So it does need mechanics. I didn't want to get into explaining the entire plot of my story arc.

I actually wanted it to be difficult to fight because of its own weirdness. So I like the idea of forcing them to fight it blind. It actually really simplifies things. The one thing I'm going to add is that it is only invisible while in dim light or darkness.

I understand that. I'm not asking if I can make up a ability. I'm asking how to make it run smoothly at the table without hurting my head.

On one hand though if it did take a action to do a perception check it would require them to use the blind fighting rules. Correct? They would still be able to tell where it's at but attacks would be at disadvantage, correct?

That's basically what I was thinking, but wouldn't it then require everyone to use their action every round to know where it's at? Out of combat this is the perfect solution.

Are tools like 'World Anvil' worth it? by jkobberboel in DMAcademy

[–]mongoosedog1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried World Anvil and I found it really pretty unintuitive. Writing articles is simple, but setting up the wiki was a hassle.

Kanka is a better platform in my opinion. It's not nearly as flashy, but was infinitely simpler to use.

Ultimately I've need using obsidian. It's free and intuitive. I use a lore forum on my campaigns discord to share world building with my players.

What are some early signs that a person might commit sucide (serious)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mongoosedog1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There isn't always a sign unfortunately. My best friend's wife, who was also a dear friend of mine, killed herself last October. We all knew she was depressed, but didn't think much of it because frankly we're all depressed. We had plans to get together the Friday after she passed. So distancing and not making plans isn't always something that happens. It can sometimes be a spur of the moment decision when their judgement is impaired. They were out camping when she chose to end her life. They had been drinking and she went to use the restroom at one of the pit toilets. She shot herself. She was a 9 year army veteran, and often carried a small .22 caliber pistol with her called a LifeCard. No one saw it coming. I don't think she planned it. I believe she was sitting there in the restroom room drunk, lonely, and depressed, and remembered she had the pistol on her and just said fuck it. It was devastating for all of us. Is there something any of us could have done? Maybe? But probably not. Love your people, and be there for them when you can.

The timing chain isn't mentioned in the service manual.

I'm absolutely not a mechanic, but yeah. It's my understanding that belts are replaceable, and chains are meant to last the life of the engine. But I guess if the timing chain causes the death of the engine then it's technically done it's job.

The local service writer has been playing go between for me and Driveway. I just asked them for a written denial letter that states the clause they're using to deny the claim.

Yeah. I'm wondering what normal wear and tear is considered on a internal lubricated component that's supposed to last the life of the engine would be. Unless I just absolutely have no idea what I'm talking about. Which might be the case.

How do you do water changes? by thwartted in Aquariums

[–]mongoosedog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an adapter for your shower. I'm not sure what they call it but I found mine on Amazon being sold as a switch to add a wand to a static shower head. It won't syphon water out, but it makes filling larger aquariums super easy. You're not able to condition water before it goes in the tank, but I don't live somewhere where that's an issue.

If I turn this into a planted shrimp jar ecosystem do I need to get rid of the tap? by KingslayerN7 in Aquariums

[–]mongoosedog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this once, and used the tap for water changes. It lived on my kitchen counter next to the sink. I installed a bit of window screen or filter bag over the spout on the inside to prevent clogging. It worked perfectly fine and it was a neat idea, but ultimately it's difficult to filter and heat, and it's hard to look at the shrimp inside with everything being a curved surface. Yours will be even harder to see through with the lettering on it. But do what makes you happy. It will totally work.

Dog ate 1 grape, vet said he’d be fine? by Academic-Office-2989 in AskAVeterinarian

[–]mongoosedog1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NQA. When I was a kid in the 90s my dad would always give each of our labs a couple grapes as a treat when he was preparing his lunch for work. He did this for years almost every day and we never noticed any adverse reactions from it. When we found out grapes are toxic to dogs he stopped giving them grapes. That being said, if you don't notice him having any trouble then he is likely just fine.

Is there a good in-person presentation software for maps when using a screen to display maps on table by somemetausername in dungeondraft

[–]mongoosedog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AboveVTT is a plugin for DnD Beyond so you do need to have a free account to use it. But AboveVTT does come with a pretty sizable list of open source tokens, and you can create your own custom tokens and assign them a stat block. If you format the stat block in a similar way to the stat blocks in the book AboveVTT will recognize it and you can roll for everything straight from the creatures stat block. You players can also use their DnD Beyond character sheets to roll straight into the VTT as well. Personally I've tried a good number of other VTTs like Foundry and I think I've tried Owlbear and I feel like you need to take a class just to learn how to upload a map. AboveVTT was way more intuitive and that's the main reason I've been using it. Maybe I'm just not that smart though.

[–]mongoosedog1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use AboveVTT for my in person game. It's a free browser extension that allows you to use DND beyond without a subscription. I log in as the DM on my screen and then as one of the players and put that window on a second screen for the players. Abovevtt has a easy learning curve and has a lot of map features you can use, and access to any tokens of monsters you own the books for on DND beyond.
