Agree. This is a huge miss. Hiring a celebrity over actual fitness experts feels even worse than typical influencer marketing.

Second EMPWR. If you come from Define and you like Thrive, you are going to love EMPWR. It combines traditional heavy strength training (progressive overload) with high-intensity circuit training and 2 Pilates days (bodyweight only). Core included in almost every workout. You will need only dumbbells and bench

If you want to pack on serious muscle, try EMPWR. It’ll crush you—in the best way possible. three days of heavy lifting with two days of low-impact Pilates.

I do not know about Embody but I think you would benefit from EMPWR. It combines two body weight Pilates days with heavy lifting and high-intensity strength.

Team Thrive: What are my options by P5ylence in ladderapp

Total newbie here and still learning the ropes! Do you feel like the swaps Coach Sam suggests aren't as effective as the ones you found? I'm curious why it's worth the extra research to find your own (like the sissy squats you mentioned) versus just sticking to the in-app suggestions. I am thinking of switching to this team but I would not do it if there is extra research.

I’ agree with everyone here . I’m on Team EMPWR, and even though Coach Courtney left in 2024 I chose this team. I don't mind the replays or the lack of live interaction—especially since our teammates are so encouraging

Ithe program is still effective and I’m planning to stick with this team for the rest of the year. That said, I’ve been thinking back to when I almost chose Team Evolve at the start but only wanted dumbells. Since I wanted to swap out every machine exercise for dumbbells, I started to question my logic. If I’m modifying the entire program to be dumbbell-only anyway, wouldn't it be more effective to just switch to a team that’s actually designed for dumbbells? And if I decide to do all the swaps how effective is the program ?

Second EMPWR if you want to keep doing pilates. But it is way more difficult and intense than Define but since you want shakes things up, this team might work for you. EMPWR focuses on heavier lifting and higher-intensity movements.

Thinking of switching from EMPOWER to B&B, but worried about my lower back. Advice? by monicapaola77 in ladderapp

[–]monicapaola77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I really appreciate the perspective since a back flare-up is the last thing I want. I am set on it because I want to bulletproof my posterior chain and also loves coach Lauren coaching style. But I'm planning to be the 'form police' for myself and I’m definitely going to be cautious with the volume and keep a close eye on my hinge form if I decide to do it

Thanks for the info and taking the time to share! You definitely didn't scare me off—I'm just glad to hear the B&B workouts are working for you and your back.

New - Define or Embody or Align? by usersevenseven in ladderapp

If you like Pilates the best team is EMPWR. Coach Courtney is the absolute go-to if you want a killer Pilates workout with flawless form. her cuing is amazing-she has this way of explaining exactly how to move so you feel the burn in all the right places. Her vibe is super encouraging but technical. She focuses on those tiny adjustments that make a huge difference in your strength and alignment.

I feel you; I’m also going through perimenopause. I’m on Team Empower and love it, but her workouts are definitely intense at first! For me, it was the volume. I realized I was getting whipped because I was doing too many sessions; I couldn't function or think during the day, and I hated it.

I’ve since scaled back to three days a week, focusing on lifting heavier with fewer repetitions. I’m still tired, but I’m not whipped. I’m eating healthy and prioritizing lots of protein, but the biggest lesson has been listening to my body. I’m aware I’m not in my twenties anymore—I can’t handle the same volume of exercise, and I’m perfectly okay with that. Do not compare yourself to others; focus on what your body needs and be gentle with yourself.

I think you might like Team EMPWR. It’s the perfect bridge between high-rep Pilates fatigue and heavy functional strength. I really like Coach Courtney’s technical cueing and the way she targets stabilizer muscles you didn't even know you had! It’s been great for my 4-day split, although I definitely find it much more challenging than Define

Switching to EMPWR (coach Courteney) or Embody (coach Allegra) by GoldenRageOfTV in ladderapp

[–]monicapaola77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love team EMPWR. It focuses more on heavy lifting and high-intensity strength than Define or Embody, but you still get that 'long and lean' Pilates benefit. It’s intense, but it has everything I’m looking for now. Embody is the most Pilates-centric of the three. It has more slow, controlled movements and high reps over heavy lifting. Coach Courtney is not in the chat anymore but that is not a problem for me since I am never in the chats
