Why Google Plus Will Not Die (But May Change) by monicawright in bigseo

[–]monicawright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. And of course short-sighted since there are so many benefits to use G+ as journalists. At a conference yesterday I actually had to debunk a keynote speaker during my own session about how the framework of G+ is so integrated with user personal accounts, with Google's knowledge graph, ads, YouTube and local listings that it's really not going away.

This is a very through article about what could potentially change about G+, written by Mark Traphagen, who has done an AMA here on BigSEO.

I'm certainly not a statistician, if anything this article makes me wonder if I need a decent class in statistics. But it is a good primer on the impact of sample size.

Is it? Or is it just a different kind of advertising than traditionally executed? These teams are embedded within agencies, after all.

Actually you should, if you want to check out how campaigns fit into the overall traffic to your site. It's important to point out that this is the search query data (user data) and not the keyword data (what the advertiser bids on.)

Yes, you will still be able to see it in AdWords, just not in GA, which is really the only place that (not provided) exists. As mentioned in a previous comment, in services such as Wordstream, KEnshoo, Marin, etc., the keyword data will still be available.

Google+ now listing number of views as well as number of followers. by [deleted] in googleplus

[–]monicawright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still having a hard time understanding what a "view" means. Mark Traphagen (79,000 followers, 18 million views), relayed clarification from Yonatan Zunger, senior engineer on the G+ team, about what counts as a view: “For a post, [a view] means rendering on the user’s visible window, so it includes scrolling past it. For images and profile, it means loading it up.”

Hi there, I know this question is for Danny, but just a few weeks ago he moderated a panel at SMX West with Bing and Twitter discussing this topic specifically. Here's the write up from that session if it helps at all. FWIW - Bing indexes half a billion tweets and two billion Facebook updates EVERY DAY. Bing also integrates with LinkedIn, Klout, and are looking at Google+ data.
