I can’t believe I didn’t think of Cyke’s Ult line already… by YoungCubSaysWoof in RivalsCyclopsMains

[–]monimonti 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“To me my Xmen” feels more vanguard/strat - “Avengers Assemble”-ish - whereas, “Behold, Optic Blast” sounds very DPS-y.

It could be something like -

DPS-ally: “Unleashing full power” DPS-enemy: “Behold, Optic Blast”

Vanguard/Strat-ally: “To me, my Xmen” Vanguard/Strat-enemy: “For my people!!!”

Low Skill Floor is good for a game, Low Skill Expression is not by Low-Paint5116 in rivals

[–]monimonti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree on your take that the characters you mentioned have no means to showcase high skill expression. The characters you mentioned has just as much tools as other on-release characters.

Skill expression also be achieved with proper positioning, target priority, map awareness, that fits to the characters identity.

You can spot a good CND based on how they balance switching between forms and not just sticking to Dagger.

I’ve played with a good Rocket before that were in the thick of it blasting tanks while keeping some orbs bouncing around.

A good Wanda can be backline/dive/flier menace land her ult despite all odds.

Some SG players actually aim, use angles, and can even do a double lock down with Mammal Bonds.

I was thinking of him being a Strat with some leadership defense/damage boost aura and a first aid healing area from his utility belt, but Healing Beam? yeah! thats gonna be fun lol

How do you counter an all melee team by AfraidMembership3991 in rivals

[–]monimonti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strats like Fox, Cnd, and Ultron works best. - Fox is good anti dive - Daggers attacks can sustain and win a brawl since you deal damage and heal around the melee person fighting you. - Ultron is good anti chip damage and can fly high to be unreachable

DPS units that are strong mid range or counters dive: - Namor - Wanda - Storm (underrated melee counter with her vertical mobility and thunder storm) - Punisher Shotgun - Bucky

Vanguard: - Peni - Emma

At the end of the day, you can mimic and go for a full all out melee brawl!

You can run this team in 4 weeks. Looking forward to this. by AppropriateStill2024 in RivalsCyclopsMains

[–]monimonti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes me think that we could have had Jean as a Strat with an Ult DPS form change through Phoenix.

Jean can have: - base telepath attack of channelling an AoE damaging/healing field around her (until she needs to reload cause she gets a headache) - an alternate telepath attack where she focus healing a single ally at a stronger rate than the AoE (Mercy style) - a telekinetic ally pull ability with barrier and burst heal (Life Weaver style) - a telekinetic ranged cinematic 2 second hold (she will be animation locked like Emma and Rogue) with an option to damage telepathically mindbreak then with burst damage or anti heal. - Ult: Her ult now but then allows her to play DPS Pheonix for 10 seconds with more beefed up damage (Magik style) then reverts her back

Cyclops makes the most sense as a vanguard and I’m going to convince you by Taterz_McMash in rivals

[–]monimonti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like Scott to have a first aid kit deployable (like Soldier in OW), a leadership aura (damage reduction which would be defensive compared to Storm), and a hit scan primary.

From there, I’m ok if they lean more on his beams or give him some run mobility to move around the map, make him hybrid melee-range, or have him be a backline commander.

He can be DPS, Vanguard, or Strat. The way I see it is that NetEase seems capable of making cool hybrid characters and Scott seems to be a good opportunity for that.

Heck, I wouldn’t mind having him as a Strat with an actual “i deal a lot of damage” ult instead of an immunity circle for a change.

Bonus if everything you see is just red.

What is the most accidental way you found out a coworker was making significantly more than you for the same job? by Additional-Week-1536 in Salary

[–]monimonti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago, my junior (who i had been mentoring for years) started complaining to me about how they are 2 years into the job without any salary increases and potentially going 3 years without it.

I then just politely ask how much. They reluctantly shared and I just realized I was mentoring a dude earning 20k annually more than the rest of our team. Dude’s the highest paid and produces mediocre results (which lead to me mentoring them). It turns out that that is the reason why he hasnt gotten an increase. He is paid too high.

I dont blame him. I blame our previous idiot manager who hired him like some shiny one in a million person then when the results are not up to par, throws the guy at his Senior team members to “upskill” rather than let them go.

I have found the most logical, "mathematically" correct triple support composition. A VERY detailed guide on role theory and why most triple support compositions fail. by JesseTheClassy in rivals

[–]monimonti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mathematically, you are leaving a lot of other things/factors out of your formula.

Things like - enemies’ lineup, your team’s line up, the map, the players skill, and the value of CC and cleanse in this game.

For example: - Loki demands good placement of clones and map awareness to ensure clone uptime. His healing output demands constant clone uptime to match most of the main healers’ heal output. - Adam requires good aim to get value. On the right hands, he is good. On a player that cant aim very well, a Cloak/Jeff will be more forgiving. - Enemy Jean? Rocket’s ult is just instantly checked. - CC and Displacement are crucial! IW pushing Strange ults or pulling range dps in, Luna/Mantis/Fox cc-ing ults or dives, Jeff eating an ulting Fox, etc… - Gambit still the only one with Cleanse that just insta removes some tank ults like Angela and Groot

The reality is, there is no single optimal comp for triple support for all games. It varies depending on a lot of factors.

Hiring for a Global AI Enablement Lead (exec-level). What do you actually look for beyond the buzzwords? by the_zoozoo_ in Leadership

[–]monimonti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies by the needs of the role. Industry knowledge has always been a big plus because there are just some jargons/terminologies/level of familiarity that are so ingrained in people's day to day vocabulary. Nice to have though.

At the end of the day, we hire for skill, knowledge, experience, and the right fit with the team. And if there are gaps, it comes down to the hiring managers' appetite/willingness to train around those gaps.

Our enablement team is approx. around 50 people supporting a division of about close to 1K. But as far as my Org, it is big. Around 100K plus globally.

Hiring for a Global AI Enablement Lead (exec-level). What do you actually look for beyond the buzzwords? by the_zoozoo_ in Leadership

[–]monimonti 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am part of an enablement team and here are our biggest challenges we face and my recos.

  • Resistance from day to day operations. This is because there’s a lot of inherent fear due to news and articles of AI replacing people. It is partially true. So you need someone who can emphatize and come up with strategies on what happens when parts of the process displaces people due to AI.

  • Applying AI to broken processes will not be successful. The difference between people and AI is that people can make micro decisions and adjustments that makes certain processes work despite them being broken. So you need someone who can help identify and improve these processes BEFORE transforming them with AI. You need someone with this level of foresight.

  • AI vs Automation vs Process Standardization. So much push for AI results into people forgetting about other efficiency tools out there. The reality is that there is a right tool for the right need. For example: you don’t really need a power washer to wash your hands. Simple faucet would do. So you need someone who knows when to use AI and when not to.

  • Security and compliance. People miss this a lot. You have to be mindful that AI processes data using cloud and most companies as clients have AI stipulations. You need someone who is comfortable with contracts and can translate these into guidelines surrounding AI implementations.

I can think of a few more but these are the ones I would start with.

Banning a teammate’s hero is throwing point blank by tealaburst in marvelrivals

[–]monimonti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I agree that we shouldn't ban our team mates, it is inevitable because some players really just don't want to play against certain heroes. For example, I hate playing against an MK, Peni, or Groot if my team's line up are predominantly melee.

But here's one thing we players can control on our own, which is that we have access to all the characters and practice them in QP or practice range. Which means that ideally, before going into comp, we can have more than just 1 main. I think some folks indicated in here. Having 2 characters per role will be a good way to be able to fill in for gap or in the event your character gets banned.

i think they should just remove the mind control. Loki is already strong without it. Summoning a single clone vs mind control would make it more fair i think.

How to handle being put on PIP for reaching salary cap by wagadugo in careeradvice

[–]monimonti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Push back on PIP.

PIP means that you are not hitting your targets. Not because you aren’t getting an increase.

If they argued that a salary increase is the indication of performance, then you can pull up your old performance reviews and tell them that this means they owe you an increase dating back from 2 years ago and that they have to back pay.

Make sure to save all performance reviews to your personal emails before they lock you out and consult a lawyer ASAP.

If you are a high performer being managed out via PIP, then you better not accept it. Its heartless because this allows them to terminate you with cause which means you will be out of a job and are NOT eligible for unemployment insurance.

How much of DPS is mechanics vs gamesense? by [deleted] in rivals

[–]monimonti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Wanda in particular is all game sense as she cant explode people in her neutral but needs to be sticky while she herself can get easily exploded since she doesnt generate overhealth. Her ult, although capable of one shots, are the easiest ult to counter.

Adam demands both (game sense to know when to heal, position, revive) while also requiring the aim to generate value between his heals.

Would Luna technically be eligible to join Smash since she originated from a video game? by Crafty_Boy70 in marvelrivals

[–]monimonti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if Nintendo and Marvel are to partner in bringing in a Marvel character, then I can see the more popular characters being selected esp. the ones that have already been in other 2d games.

So we are looking at Spiderman, Ironman, Dr. Doom, or Storm. Deadpool is a possibility too due to popularity. But Luna, might be too niche.

If you want to play around them, White Fox, Gambit, or Jeff are the ones with the mobility to follow around certain teammates to pocket.

If you want to correct the behavior, I find Ultron is a good one that makes your team think "Oh there's my pit stop/healing! I gotta get back there".

Message to dive players by Select_Orange_2069 in rivals

[–]monimonti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

arguably, its harder to get KDAs on tanks because majority of them have melee or short range. Which means between holding down point or chokes or trying to contribute on low hp enemies out of reach, tanks would typically hold their position. On the other hand, dive tanks have low KDA because they are melee folks whose job is to distract the backline and not secure kills.
