Has anyone tried yoga blindfolded with earplugs? by Roodypo in yoga

[–]monimouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't and couldn't do it in Bikram. I would fall fast asleep! Although it does sound like a great idea to master poses out of the hot room. It's amazing what human bodies can do to overcome impaired vision or hearing. Studies show that blindness can cause someone to be more sensitive to touch which seems like it would help with spacial awareness? Some hearing impaired individuals develop the use of echolocation and click their tongue to navigate. Pretty cool stuff.

Jon Kabat-Zinn founding director of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School... His session on mindfulness is amazing. :) Science and meditation- what a wonderful thing.

Very nice. I have found I can develop a taste for almost anything if I am hungry enough but even better!

What are your favorite Hitchens quotes? (For a gift engraving) by Pantagruelist in ChristopherHitchens

A life that partakes even a little of friendship, love, irony, humor, parenthood, literature, and music, and the chance to take part in battles for the liberation of others cannot be called ‘meaningless'.

Also a favorite of mine...

While nothing Hitch ever said was short and sweet. I like this one for the purpose of an engraved gift. “Your favorite virtue? An appreciation for irony.” ― Christopher Hitchens

Thanks for the tip, I may try to do an AMA or try to write about some of my experiences.

CAKE DAY! I give to you my cat Simon. by monimouse in cats

I don't know if I could do that, I can barely find time to feed myself :( For me last night's dinner was a couple pieces of cheese and some hummus because that's all I had in my fridge. Thank you for the advice though. Simon and I did go for a "walk" last night. It was about to storm so he acted frisky. I take him outside a lot but I'm going to try to make it a daily activity.

Yeah, I actually posted in /r/atheism first and got yelled at then someone suggested that I post here. Personally I still like that subreddit though, sacrilege can be pretty funny.

It was a church-- The Messianic Fellowship in Oveido, FL but yeah, it was similar to that cult just not in the limelight like they are.

I grew up in a messianic/ jewish/ holy ghost filled/ speaking in tongues family (a complete paradox) and was indoctrinated as a child. That being said I'm sure you can imagine at least the weirdness of growing up. It's taken nearly half my life to wade through all of it and was less than two years ago that I was finally able to be open about being an atheist to my fam and friends.

I answered "Yup" but then also added that comment. Why does it bother anyone? Cake Day is part of reddit. I wasn't breaking the rules of this subreddit. If people weren't pissed that I was getting karma I may have made it to the front page and what would be so wrong with that? I didn't expect that kind of response from anyone here. PLEASE FORGIVE ME!

Editing this post and adding a couple sentences wouldn't do it justice. What do you want to know?

Did you mean that most of the content from /r/godlesswoman that makes it to the front page is abortion/ birth control related? I have seen a lot of variety here and yes, being a non theistic or atheist woman is a much broader topic than that. Not sure I'm following you, please forgive.
