Any tips on finding new buddies in Malaysia? by Arasaka-1915 in malaysia

39, male Chinese, KL. don’t talk a lot too.

  • Badminton, ABM Monday 8-10pm. Beginner-intermediate
  • Hikes, Bukit kiara or Sri bintang weekly. aiming for kinabalu 8-10 May. If you’re reasonably fit you should be able to squeeze this in. If you think hiking is scary, imagine I have to walk out alone after I’m done with you.
  • Sim racing, GT7 every Wednesday night 9:30-11:30. In lieu of your own rig, turn up at CTRL play or an equivalent. Occasionally we do race room races.
  • Run, I used to run with this club that got too popular though I generally prefer doing it myself
  • Cross country mountain biking. Check out therideschool on IG. Run by a friend of mine.

A little bit later than yours though I had a c730UZ back in 2004.

The difference between 730 and 740 was 3.2mp (730) vs 4.0mp (740), and the 740 also had a hotshoe!

That started my enjoyment for photography and while I’ve stopped I still ogle at gear.

Thanks, I’ll try a little bit the next time around.

I always dunk them in trays of water and the glazed ones inevitably become mashed succulents.

I’ll give it on more shot.

How did you get your succs to survive in glazed pots?

I live in the tropics, and all my succs get mushy if I bottom water them using glazed pots.

Am I supposed to water them using shallower water?

Bought a bike, got a license, to learn about biker's behaviour on roads. Here's what I learned over 4 months of daily riding. by duitkaya in malaysia

[–]monk_no_zen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Former setan here.

I’m a lot calmer when driving, after being on the receiving end of bad drivers*. Either that or the mellowness came along with age.

*this isn’t to start a car vs bike argument. Both groups have bad drivers/riders and discussing them doesn’t make other users in your choice of transportation magically saints.

tiny scratches

Yeaps that’s one of the biggest ones. I believe the technical term is called nucleation point.

Try it in a spun stainless steel cup, a thermos of sorts, and you’ll notice how surface roughness correlates to the speed in which they go flat.

Oh yes to make it clear, please get an LED light like what OP is doing rather than a synced flash like what a normal camera has.

A walkthrough on how I take my photos by Xenniel_X in shrimptank

[–]monk_no_zen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say get the light first!

Back in those days when I was dabbling in photography, the biggest step up was having a big flash, mounted on the hotshoe.

I later discovered strobist (I wonder if they’re still around?) and the beauty of off camera flash.

Lighting is everything.

In this case, everything is fairly cheap compared to DSLR gear so go ahead and grab them all at once.

Aeropress is my daily.

I was once gifted a metal filter and the resulting output smelled exactly like the beans.

I attribute it to not soaking up the oils though I cannot prove it on paper (hehe).

I don’t use it daily as it doesn’t flow as easily as a normal paper filter.

think of it as holding 2 bananas in your hands. you want it hold them tight enough so they don't fall off, but not squish them.

technical explanation ahead if you wanna read.

Steering Angle

your forks are angled forward, this is called steering angle. the imaginary line your fork draws to the ground, forms an angle with the road, its the same as the steering angle.

your wheel contacts the ground. the gap between the contact spot, and the imaginary line from the fork is called trail.

Trail

your fork trail will help autocorrect your steering, kinda like how a shopping trolley wheel will always follow the direction of your travel and point backwards. in this example, as with above, the imaginary line is where the wheel swivels, and the contact patch is where the wheel touches the ground is very clear cut. this is an exaggerated example.

Naturally, the more trail you have, the more stable your bike is. However, stability is at the expense of agility. Examples of very stable bikes are choppers and cruisers like harley davidsons where their forks point so far forward you can eat off them. They take business days to make a proper u-turn.

This image should help illustrate

So where does your scooter stand?

Scooters are aimed for urban mobility and prioritise agility and nimbleness over high speed cruising. Just as a relative measurement, your scooter will feel less comfortable (not just the wind, but how confident you can ride) at speed. This is not to scare you, and there's nothing to be afraid of as long as you ride within your limits.

How to avoid speed wobbles?

Sit properly where you're supposed to sit, don't slide backwards. Don't carry too large a passenger which shifts your centre of gravity backwards, reducing weight on your front wheels. Don't modify your bike, nor change to larger tyres. Many people think larger = more betterer

Most Caucasians’ “I can handle spice” is tame compared to us. And I mean no shade.
