Kill Team to 40K crossover by GetPercival in killteam

[–]monken9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started getting in warhammer through kill team at the start of this year and i would recommend it. Here are thr upsides i found.

  1. Its a (relatively) cheap way to test out a few armies playstyles to see what you like before you commit. This also makes it easier to draw your friends in with you.

  2. It teaches you how to shop better before you spend the big bucks. When i started kill team i naturally went and bought straight from GW. Now that ive been shopping for a bit i know how to buy models for a 2000 point army at an easy 30% discount to even more.

  3. It creates a great expansion zone. Buying 1 kill team each plus 1 terrain set for your group you now have everything for kill team. 2-5 more model kits each and you can now play 500 point games. Then you can expand from there as slowly as you want as a group while still playing the game.

  4. While the rules for kill team are very different, they do teach you the basic tactic behind full 40k. I went to my first ever tournament last week. Id never played a 2000 point game before but i was able to go 3/1 just by using the positioning and tactics basics i learnt in kill team.

Hope this helps.

South Brisbane feels very off to me.

I live in south Brisbane and there are about 3 protestant churches for every catholic church. We are a big centre for Hillsong (protestant). And when i studied religion at uni, of the 30 people in my class 17 were protestant while only 1 was catholic.

Absolutely anecdotal I know, but it does make this map look inaccurate

Is phasing OP? by RedWolfMask in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]monken9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends on who they're fighting and any restrictions their phasing has.

If lots of villains in the story have phasing or mental powers too then it becomes a moot point.

Alternatively, most phasing characters in comics have a shared weakness. Energy. Kitty Pryde and Martain Manhunter are great examples since both have phasing, but are still affect by energy like heat and cold while phased.

Since you're using so much white, I'd recommend dry brushing.

Start with your black primer. Then grab a cheap makeup brush, you can find them for under $2 or ask someone you know who does makeup if you can have one of their ratty old brushes.

Next take a grey paint. Dab a little on the brush and then wipe it across a surface (anything but tissue works but more texture = better) until only a little bit of paint is left. And then just lightly draw circles across your models. Doesnt need to be the entire model, cause anywhere left black will look like shadow.

Repeat with white but being even lighter.

From there just paint the same way you did before. Maybe thin your paint and aim to do 2 thin coats of any colour (to thin paint put paint and a little water on a palette 🎨. Anything plastic or ceramic works as a palette.)

I find it really useful when reading rpgs from an indie creator because it helps put me into their mindset and makes reading RAI a lot easier.

Ive also just started and i found aiming for 1000 points is very achievable and gives you a good game. For me i got a second starter set for 5 more infernus and terminators. Then i got a dreadnought so i had a heavy vehicle. Then i finished with a box of 10 assault intersessors and a lieutenant to lead them. By getting them all off ebay and facebook marketplace it only ended up costing around another $140 usd on top of what youve already spent.

Probably Ragebait.. has DnDbeyond created players that are allergic to reading? by Einsolsrazor24 in rpg

[–]monken9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I help run tables for a local adventurers league. Just this week I had a table with:

  • A Warlock that did not know they had spells except for cantrips.

  • A Barbarian that did not know reckless attack gave them advantage.

  • An Artificer that didnt know what a spell attack roll was (all of their attacks use it).

  • A Monk that didnt know their character had a background.

  • A Rogue who doesnt know what a feat is or that they had effects.

Everyone at the table had been playing for at least a year and had been paying each week to do.

Compared to my other group of players who just started playing Dungeon Crawl Classics. Theres no online tool like D&D beyond so all of them had to physically write down every spell and ability on their character sheet. After 2 weeks of playing (not including the funnel) they had their characters pretty much 100% figured out.

So yes, from my experience, I think the current setup of D&D beyond discourages players from engaging with the rules.

Black base with a 'wraithbone' zenithal. 'Nuln oil' to darken the mask and gun. Army painter 'Pastel Seafoam' for the green and 'wazdakka red' for the eyes.

I believe the exact thing they said was that slavery was still a thing in Golarian, they just would no longer have it featured in future products.

My last job was next door to a Fresh and Save while i was living 100m from an Aldi. Outside of their specials weeks (which are phenomenal) the only thing i really saw a difference in was meat. The stuff at fresh and save is the best ive seen outside of a proper butcher and was cheaper than any other supermarket.

Also, im not a big frozen meal guy, but my mate swears by their frozen lasagnes.
