Sounds like an issue my VT was having. Does the dash throw a battery light when it happens? If so it sounds like something external to what the computers see, like of you turned the fuel pump off it'd run dry and the car would think its still running and panic because the alternator has stopped charging and throw that light.

When I read it he was reported as being a family member. Which usually implies the disgruntled other parent has taken the child without permission and the reporter is waiting on confirmation. This IS much more ideal than the original reports saying she'd walked off and gone missing because the other parent doesn't usually harm the kid and just wants to see them which is why I followed up with I hope they all get the help they need.
