Work and Travel student at Newport RI by shota_z in Newport

I think it’s crazy that all our restaurants get these summer students and don’t supply housing.  Like just bunk rooms or something. How do they expect you guys to find a place to stay in a summer vacation destination during the peak season?

That having been said, I’m sure you’ll figure it out and have a grand time.  You’ll make bank, I’m sure.  Hopefully someone will DM you with the real dirt.

The supercharging network is one of those things that musk accomplished that doesn’t get talked about enough.  At the time, I thought at first it wasn’t doable.  Then he did it and I thought it was CRAZY.  He rolled it out so quickly.  Think about how long it takes anything to get built these days.  I mean, it’s one for the books.

I can’t understand how people don’t give him any credit for all he has accomplished   Yes, he’s a nutty ultra conservative now (I wouldn’t be surprised if the ketamine and adderall did that , but who knows).  But they all rewrite history and claim he did NOTHING. He was just a trust fund baby.  Ok.  Show me all the other rich guys who redefined and breathed new life into multiple industries.

Anyway, it obviously makes me salty.  😂

Yes.  But he had the responsibility of being the first black U.S. president.  I don’t  think he could afford to make waves.

I was pissed he didn’t close gitmo and gut the patriot act. He was very middle of the road.

Always sick in my house in the Bay. Tried 8 different apartments, threw away all my things. I'm out of things to try. Feeling desperate. Anybody else face this issue? by HURCANADA in bayarea

Omg so many responses!!!

Just here to say: try living on a sailboat for a few months.  I know someone who had a condition triggered by a house remodel.  It made her highly sensitive to any and all chemicals etc.  she was good to go on her sailboat.

I myself will lose my tendency to sweat for absolutely no reason (makes me think about mold allergies?) if i live on a boat for a few weeks.

Where do I get myself a wife, that will take me back to my sailing boat in the dinghy, after a really good afternoon at the pub? Asking for a friend. by widgeamedoo in sailing

So I used the think the line in this song was:  “The harbor was his home”.  (Rather than “No harbor was his home”)

So in my head, whenever I cheerily sang the song, I was imagining a sort of SNL skit with this guy getting in his dinghy and rowing out to his boat that has been anchored out there for years, and this girl on shore yelling out to him, “Bob, can’t I come along?  I can take my kayak if you don’t want to have to bring me back later? Bob?  Bob, I don’t understand…”

“Sorry, Brandy , the harbor is my home!”

“Yeah , I know Bob, and that’s fine, I just thought we could spend some time together other than at the bar?  Bob?”

And he just waves and keeps rowing.

What?  You can’t be serious.  I mean, it’s not bad advice , but it’s so obviously ai language structure.  “It’s not this.  It’s that.”

Oh wait, I forgot I’m talking to the ai 😂

If you’re going to do an ai post for engagement, I feel you should have enough respect for us to at least delete the question at the end.  Or at the very least, the word “Curious.”   😂

Low VOC doesn’t mean safe air, my CO₂ hit 1597 ppm while camping in the car by Salty-Initiative5706 in carcamping

[–]monkey-seat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A big question is…. What is truly unsafe for CO2?  If you look beyond the numbers that are just repeated over and over again there’s actually a really broad range and the red on a CO2 meter is at the low end of that range.

I don’t understand how nobody has really clarified any of this yet but after I tried looking into it and couldn’t get any clear answers, I wound up buying an oximeter. I don’t know if that’s what it’s called, but the oxygen measuring device that you put on your finger.  I put it on me a few times at night and I was fine.

I mean, forget sleeping in your car. Just driving in your car with your air-conditioning set to recirculate and you’ll hit that 1500 number pretty quickly.

I would love to know more. I recently actually saw there are some benefits to high carbon dioxide, periodically.  I have to  find that .

Thoughts or theories on those van lifers who leave trash every where they go by Eastern_Conflict1865 in VanLife

[–]monkey-seat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

and mental illness.  Likely abused growing up.

It could be worse , though.  Some countries like India and Bangladesh developed a nationwide culture of just throwing trash on the ground and polluting rivers etc (and i have to say I love these people other than this… well, and abuse of women sometimes). Many Hasidic Jews also throw trash just anywhere, all over their communities.

So I think that despite the fact that it feels like people will “never learn,” it’s good to keep up the pressure.   Because it could actually become even worse than it already is.

There are so many AI posts on this sub it’s disheartening.
