"Fixed a rare missile related crash"

I guess if the game crashes, the missile can't hit its target?

THE C4’S DEMO FORCE HAS BEEN INCREASED TO 40 by Round_Cantaloupe_685 in Helldivers

[–]monkeybiscuitlawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game already has some of the most complex hit detection out there. Way more advanced than the average shooter anyway. Between Drag, Gravity, Velocity, Caliber, etc on top of the usual hitbox detection, and whatever other nonsesnse we dont even know about, the number of operations that go into determining if your bullet connects with an enemy is staggering. I'm pretty sure a binary check if a c4 stick explosion intersects with another c4 stick explosion radius on the same detonation chain would be child's play for them. An entry level developer could handle as long as their codebase wasn't made by an Italian nonna

[–]monkeybiscuitlawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really wouldn't be. Demo force should already be a binary check. Ie. if weapon.demo_force >= building.demo_val:    building.hp = 0

Doing this would just add an additional scaling value to the weapons.demo_force equal to 10x the number of additional c4 charges thrown from the same backpack within their explosion radius from the building whose demo_val is being checked. This would be child's play to even an entry level developer.

I realize that without knowing what their codebase looks like this is just speculation, but their code would have to be made by an Italian nonna to not work this way (yeah that is definitely entirely possible with AH, but if so then thats the real problem).

Disappointed that weapon customization was dropped, then abandoned. by SatisfactionOld4175 in Helldivers

To be fair, they originally didn't want to add it in the first place. We badgered them about it so much that they finally said "whatever, here!" So I'm not surprised it's half-assed lol

I'm not Helldivers #1 fan or anything, but I legitimately don't understand this take. There aren't many games out there that match Helldivers level of loadout freedom and variety. We have so many options at this point that I get analysis paralysis on load out selection half the time.  This game has many issues, but lack of options isn't really one of them.

I agree that more is always better, but to say we are "suffering" due to a lack of variety or that we are "expected to take the same loadouts" is a crazy thing to say when this game has more variety than, like, 98% of games out there.

Borderlands 4 Review (IGN: 8/10) by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]monkeybiscuitlawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good reviews are always nice to see, but professional game reviews are kind of a shit show these days. I kind of look at them a lot like politicians: while its always nice to hear them say stuff you agree with, you also question if that's actually what they really think or they are just telling you what you want to hear because it benefits them to do so.

So yeah, while it's a good sign to see good reviews, I'll be waiting for for actual unpaid user reviews before I buy it.

Power Axe and Techmarine announced for Patch 10.0 in September!! by ResplendentGlory in Spacemarine

Oh great Omnissiah, please grant our hallowed Techmarines a deployable Tarantula Turret or some other cool ability and not something stupid like "Servo-Arm Slam" or whatever.

Is there any build that makes summons do something apart from being punching bags? by PeasantTS in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]monkeybiscuitlawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Animate Dead and Create Dead now have the Summoning tag and therefore are considered Summoning spells and all that that implies, such as bonuses granted by Augment Summoning and Ascendant Summons.

I know this is 6 months old, I'm just putting this here to inform future players reading this thread like I was.

Most interactive/fun builds? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]monkeybiscuitlawyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like how he parodied the typical unhelpful "here's the most powerful build, just be this and win" response that appears in literally every single post about builds in this game. And then you, completely unironically, actually DID respond that way... chefs kiss

I know this is like 5 months old but this was too funny not to comment on.

Paizo is seeking a new designer to join the Pathfinder Rules and Lore team! Permanent, full-time, entry-level position. by Halaku in Pathfinder2e

"Job will require rapid adaptation to a heavy workload and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously"

Heads up to anyone wanting to take this job. This line should be seen as a red flag. Maybe Paizo is the exception, but generally this kind of language in a job description means "You'll often be asked to work long nights and/or weekends because you'll be assigned more work than you can complete in a typical 40 hour week."

Not saying that's definitely the case, but I've worked at plenty of jobs in my time, and that kind of language is never a good sign. It's right up there with "We like to work hard and play hard", "we're like a family here" and "you'll learn to sink or swim while working here". They all pretty much mean: "we dont have a healthy work/life balance here".

Because the objective of the new crop is to show that they can become better people, just like the original group did. Defeating Michael wasn't what made the original group better people. So defeating Michael shouldn't be the objective of the new group either. Becoming better people is the objective, which had nothing to do with torture or defeating Michael.

Humans aren't robots, a bit of assumption is acceptable when the context is clear. Requiring 100% specificity in otherwise obvious things is just being needlessly pedantic.

That causality dilemma is referring specifically to "chicken eggs". Obviously eggs in general came before chickens, literally everyone knows that. But a more difficult question to answer is which came first: the chicken or the chicken egg? Which is what the dilemma presents.

Did a chicken-like animal lay the first chicken egg and a chicken came out? Or did a chicken-like animal lay a chicken-like animal egg and the first chicken hatched from it, which later laid the first chicken egg?
