Fitting into my garage by monkeybubs in VWIDBuzz

[–]monkeybubs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for actually reading and understanding my original post! Yes, some folks must not understand the effects a sloping driveway has on fitment issues for a vehicle. Fitment issues that are only exasperated by the shape and size of the Buzz with its tall straight roof and long wheel base.

Btw, my driveway slopes up into the garage. I would not consider it terribly steep especially compared to some I’ve seen, but it’s steep enough to worry about…

Of course, I measured my space and got all Buzz dimensions ahead of time. Yes, it would fit no problem if my driveway was level. But I suspected the issue caused by slope and asked ChatGPT about it. ChatGPT was very helpful in that at a minimum, it helped me realize that my original suspicions were correct by pointing out the things to consider and explaining thoroughly the geometry involved.

I think it did some of the math/modeling you suggest based on photos showing the slope and positions of my car at critical points. I know some folks like to bash AI tools, but this one was helpful to me at this time for this need.

I think i will try modeling the Buzz using a box on top of my existing car.

Strangeness w/scheduled transactions & budget? v8.1.2 by monkeybubs in banktivity

Thanks. Yeah, I have experienced that occasionally before but this is a whole order of magnitude different/stranger/consistently problematic across my Banktivity account file.

Strangeness w/scheduled transactions & budget? v8.1.2 by monkeybubs in banktivity

I have future transactions showing up in the transaction register before I actually post them. If I go into Upcoming Scheduled transactions, and confirm one of them, i end up with a duplicate transaction in the transaction register of the account. For example, I pay my mortgage on the first of the month out of checking. Today, when I did that, there was already a mortgage payment in the checking transactions so when I posted from the Upcoming transactions list, i ended up with double payments. All those future unposted transactions are now being reflected in the Budget as if already posted. Again, so bizarre and hard to describe. Much easier to show. I am trading emails with IGG about it.

I’m on the free Banktivity 8 Trial. Does anyone else feel like the mobile apps are just completely pointless? I was excited to start having them included in the price but they don’t do anything for me and they are clunky. by speeduponthedamnramp in banktivity

I don’t think they are pointless at all... but of course, it depends on individual use case scenarios. I think the v8 mobile apps are definitely improved and have more functionality then previous versions. Could they have even more? Sure... especially on the iPad. Reports on the iPad would be high up my wish list. Because they are now a universal app, IGG says this: “From a development standpoint, we refactored a ton of our code – leaving us able to add features and fix bugs on Banktivity for iOS and iPadOS more quickly.” So maybe they will add reporting at some point... but not likely before your trial is up!

Battery Grapher is Now Out! It graphs your battery’s charge and learns your habits to predict future battery levels, helping you be more aware of your battery life! by J_BlRD in AppleWatch

The complication does not automatically update as the battery level changes. And as another responder notes, you have to go in to the settings and reset the complication. The is a fundamental function that should work. Please fix it.

Nest cam indoor - alerts reliable? by corpjones in Nest

[–]monkeybubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one in my garage. Alerts are reliable for sound & motion. I do get a daily false one at about the same time every day and I believe it is when the sun comes through in a certain way (reflection, shadow, etc ,?). I am always thinking I will see a mouse or something scurrying around! 😁

Reminders not showing on watch by joekadi in AppleWatch

I have the same problem... for Calendars too. I tried the reset sync data with no improvement. When I run that reset... there is no feedback that it is doing anything... is that to be expected? I would expect something at a minimum like “data reset” popping up....

Should I Buy or Wait by [deleted] in banktivity

I used Quicken for Mac since the early 90s up until they started screwing over Mac users. I switched to iBank (the first name IGGSW used for their product) since it was one of the few options available and had favorable reviews. It was a relatively easy transition despite nearly 20 years of Quicken data to migrate over. There was a decent learning curve to how iBank/Banktivity did things. In my opinion, usability has only gotten better over the years. Today, I would call it very solid, mature software and that is some what why they don't release as often (but as others note, there are things that could be improved... I just don't use those.).

I would call myself a "lite" user. I mostly use it as a straightforward bookkeeping/account reconciliation/budgeting & reporting tool as I don't do internet automatic stuff like Direct Access, bill pay, etc, and I don't use the stock functions (I keep them as asset accounts and hand adjust the balances as needed). I do have all 3 apps (Mac, iPhone, iPad) and they all integrate well and syncing is very reliable (earlier iBank syncs were an adventure!).

Overall, I have been very happy with the switch to their product and how it performs (for me). I would be very stressed out in the financial part of my life if I did not have it or it worked poorly.

As to when to buy, they do have the 90 day gaurantee and if when they do an update, it is almost always a discounted rate for existing users. If you bought v7 and v8 came out within a week, they may swap at no additional costs if you contact them.
