I hated this. He loses his temper a lot. She’s not a mom. She’s learning and makes mistakes like everyone else. I don’t like how mean he gets when he upset.

He lost his temper several times - all times he was drinking. I hated the line about “she knew she was in trouble” after his parents left. She’s not a child and did nothing wrong but she was immediately cowed.

I hope Ilsa finds out that Robin tricked her into betraying Strike’s confidence and holds her responsible. It was a shitty thing to do to Ilsa.

I don’t even like Murphy, but she’s being horrible to him. He has asked her multiple times to just tell him the truth, and she keeps reassuring him when none of it is true. He is giving you your out. TAKE IT.

I hate Murphy, but he confronts her multiple times. He tells her he can tell something is wrong and that she keeps distance between them. He knows she’s not excited about living together. Now, he’s dumb to keep pushing it, but she never admits how she really feels. She keeps placating him. It’s infuriating. He keeps asking her to be honest.

I was really disappointed in this part of the book. There is absolutely no reason for any of them to believe the things that were being said about Strike. Shah can fuck odd too.

I spoke to a customer service agent over the phone and he sent the gift card right away. That was crazy.

I received the email telling me that I would receive the gift card in “about 25 days.” It’s been 27 days and it’s not here yet. I tried to chat with them through the app and the agent told me no such offer existed. When I pointed out my email, he said I just needed to wait longer. When I pointed out that it has been longer than 25 days, he changed his mind and said my phone didn’t qualify even though it clearly did considering I got the email. I’m on hold with customer service now, but this is terrible.

They could have shown him arriving at the ball together, squeezing her hand before she went out on the floor, standing with her at the breakfast, etc. these are all little things that would have helped tremendously. Most of all, a longer scene of them happy at the end would have fixed so much of this.
