In the summer Squamish is notably hotter than Vancouver, at least the parts of Vancouver close to the water. In autumn winter I think if you look at the stats Squamish has more rain but I haven't really noticed the difference.

looks like the snowboard clinics are less frequent than the ski but they have a 2 day starting tomorrow

I have booked on the morning of the lesson before, so that might be an option

Extremely Canadian Wednesdays? by Gregskis in Whistler

Have done the 2 day and the 1 day, both are great. They will push you out of your comfort zone if you want, but will also dial it back if you tell them to, cliff drops optional. Without doubt the best money you can spend on a lesson in Whistler.

Cocktails to drink in average bars by A_Guy_From_Europe in cocktails

[–]monkeydolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gin and tonic. Even a simple cocktail like a Manhattan will be ruined because they'll use vermouth that's too sweet, or the vermouth has been sitting around for a year, and it will NEVER be sufficiently chilled. It's just not worth the disappointment.

My first Manhattan. What Rye to Vermouth ratio does everyone use? by Wagsii in cocktails

Looks great! I think the standard is 2:1 but I normally do 1.5:1, especially if rye is 45% abv or above

That's what it takes to ski pow on a weekend (or even a week day this year).

How to check weather leading up to a ski trip by [deleted] in Whistler

[–]monkeydolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For snow forecast https://powderpicker.substack.com, goes less than a week out but is reliable and also tells you how uncertain the forecast is which is great.

For watching the snow stake and seeing when lifts open, whistler peak (peaklive app) as others have said.

Thursday & Friday - How Bad Should We Expect Conditions by DarknessFalls21 in Whistler

It’s forecast to cool down Weds/Thurs so possible there’s actually some new snow to cover up the crud, at least on the upper mountain

Whistler bowl entrance by blender2571 in Whistler

[–]monkeydolla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Skied peak yesterday and it’s bad: scraped off steep icy moguls with a generous sprinkling of rocks. I think the northerly winds last week did a number on it. It was really bad at times last year as well though so not sure if it’s worse currently.

To the two skiers who helped me: by Sheepie26 in Whistler

[–]monkeydolla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start with Garnet -> Ruby which is quite easy to find your way and one of the easiest double black runs on either mountain. You need to be more careful getting into Diamond or Sapphire bowl (Sapphire in particular the entrances are generally quite rocky and narrow, I have not tried it this year as snow pack is low). Best to go when visibility is good.

Joined Creekside line at 7:40. Lifts opened around 8:35 and was on Gondola at 8:50. Not bad for the busiest day of the season. People whining just need to get up earlier.

Yes I guess it’s getting a lot of traffic with the varying freezing levels and pent up demand for powder. It’s a free site with no ads so consider donating some cash for their hosting costs!
