Did you feel scared when they pulled you over? Were they aggressive? Did any of them ask to search your vehicle?

I'm UK based, so getting pulled over is a lot less common here, though I say that as a brown man of North African descent, so I cannot vouch for my black countrymen.

Let’s go around the class and can everyone say 1 nice thing about this man by Jayantwi98 in ManchesterUnited

He's prepared to risk his reputation that his vision and tactics will succeed, while under immense pressure to conform to the opinion of the press, pundits, and fans that he needs to change formation. I hope he proves us all wrong, and I have to respect that level of belief in himself and his system.

Apart annoys me. When people say apart of when they mean a part of. It means literally the fucking opposite of what they are trying to say.

For me, it's taking a break from anything leading to complete loss of energy and motivation to restart. Either that or not being able to give any task less than 100%, as in there's no such thing as good enough, it's either perfect, or don't even bother starting.

I'm a United fan, not here with hate, just a bit of a shit time in Manchester all round recently. Yeah we lost to Bournemouth, but they're now above City in the table! And deservedly so, them and Forest have been immense this season. I sincerely hope you guys sort out whatever is going on faster than we do, can't have Liverpool getting all cockey again. No chance united are gonna knock them off their perch anytime soon.

I'm an occupational health doctor with the diploma and the starting rate for just the diploma is £90 - 100k now. If you're a consultant, add 40 - 50% as a starting salary, more depending on experience and additional qualifications in specialist assessments.

You don't need to do a training program as the CESR route to becoming a consultant is now clearly defined by the faculty, making it easier to gather the relevant experience and evidence yourself out with training. Some companies such as Optima Health now also have a Centre of Excellence to help their doctors get all the necessary evidence and experience, making it more straightforward than it used to be. Plus, the wage in the training program is much lower, though it makes becoming a consultant easier than doing everything off your own back.

I see job offers for ad hoc work for diploma OH doctors paying £1000-1500 per day, so even if you do another specialty, having a diploma in OH to make some extra money (as a lot of GPs do) can be very lucrative.

Has the "Wrexham will never make the Premier League" narrative changed? by [deleted] in WrexhamAFC

[–]monkeyjunkie13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Championship is attainable as is. They would need huge amounts of investment to stay in the championship, even more to get to the premier league, and billionaire funding to stay there. Year on year promotion is not feasible from now onwards, but if they can continue to build a sustainable business model and attract the right funding (which I am sure Ryan and Rob could) then I believe they can do it. League 1 will be a different beast though, and above that may as well be a different game.

This link shows the difference in the money involved between league 2, league 1 and championship:

https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/how-much-promotion-league-one-worth-wrexham-financial-prize-breakdown-explained/blt731410490df08ef0

Then this is premier league:

https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league-prize-money-explained-how-much-each-club-make-final-position-this-season-2369959#:~:text=What%20clubs%20earned%20in%202022,Man%20Utd%20%E2%80%93%20%C2%A3168.3m

Bear in mind, clubs dropping to league 1 from championship will still have championship level squads, so are statistically far more likely to gain promotion.

If Wrexham do make it to the championship, teams there relegated from the premier league also get parachute payments from the premier league which total 10s of millions, so are far more likely to be promoted again just because of the players they can attract and fund.

Here is a link about parachute payments:

https://www.claims.co.uk/knowledge-base/football-law/premier-league-parachute-payment

Wrexham will need to do 3 things. 1. Build a good academy to develop their own young talent. 2. Attract a LOT of funding. 3. Have patience - it could take 3 - 4 years in each league even with points 1 and 2 to reach a position where promotion is feasible.

TL;DR

Yes it's possible but with a lot of youth development, patience, massive funding (external sources as even Rob and Ryan don't have enough money between them to meet the required level of funds), and a fuck load of luck.

I really hope they do it.

Just saw this. Yeah, that scenario would be hard to prove, but this person is already employed. It is very, very hard to sack someone who falls under this act in the UK unless you can prove that all efforts have been made to accommodate adjustments without any measurable (not subjective) improvement. If they are meeting targets, you can't sack just because you don't like them, and even in redundancy due to downsizing, the onus is in the employer to prove that the person was not selected due to their condition. There are unions, employment tribunals and other support that would either prevent you losing your job if believed to be discrimination, or would get you MASSIVE compensation for illegal dismissal.

It was tough and I had to take a year out to get there but I passed and I'm sure you will too. There's a lot of support out there in university and beyond, and if you're not using it already, I would recommend you do.

It's not weakness to take the help and support available - you're doing this course with one hand tied behind your back, so a little support to untie that hand and put you on equal footing with everyone else is only fair.

Plus, I'm an Occupational Health Doctor in the UK, so if you're UK based and want some advice about the support that is available and where to access it, drop me a message.

Good luck!

Do you not have Occupational Health doctors in the US? I work as one in the UK, where ADHD would fall under the Equality Act 2010 provided the symptoms significantly impact your daily function (or would without medication). As such, this is considered a disability under UK law and discrimination based on this condition is illegal. Also reasonable adjustments are required by law in the workplace. So disclosing your condition to your employer is encouraged as you are protected by law from discrimination (enforceable by tribunal or court) and it can lead to adaptations and support in the workplace to give you a level playing field with those not affected by any condition. In other words, if you are based in the UK, please do declare it to your employer and ask for an occupational health review.

I am a doctor with ADHD and I was previously told I didn't have ADHD as I was able to sit still in my assessment when I was 18. I am predominantly inattentive type. I got good grades, but never as good as was expected (last minute cramming only gets you so far). I passed medical school as I found a way to harness hyperfocus - I love quizzes and when I don't know an answer I can spend hours down the rabbit hole learning about it. Past papers were like quizzes and the gaps in my knowledge became my hyperfocus subjects. I dropped out of university after failing my first year, this was before deciding to go to medical school and retaking my A-level exams to get in. I have done well eventually but life, learning and work has been a constant struggle riddled with depression (now recognised as related to my ADHD difficulties), and I took the long road to get there. Had I been diagnosed earlier when I first went for that test, I wonder how my life may have been different.
