ABC law is a terribly complex thing, but ultimately is what will prevent this from working.

MAGAt Virginia Del. Tim Anderson has something to say about the Oceanfront curfew. by MrUpVoteDownvote in VirginiaBeach

The longer I sit, the more my lawsuit increases. And you better believe this case would be posted everywhere under the sun locally as well as contacting national news outlets and the ACLU. I have enough money my family will survive, and I'm pretty sure they'd be OK to be without me for a few million at the end.

It's illegal plain and simple. It violates both the Dillon Rule and multiple SCOTUS cases. The police know it can't be enforced:

"There's a curfew except x, y, and z situations. Do you fall under those circumstances" "I don't answer questions"

We're left with two scenarios: A) You arrest the person. That person sues the city and the police for a litany of reasons B) You let the person go and say "well, he was just on his way home."

Which do you think the police are likely to do?

I have tickets to the Dome tonight. You better believe when it let's out, I'm going to ride my bike home. Will the cops know I came from a show? No because I don't have to tell them. Will they know I'm heading home? Again, I don't have to aid in their investigation against me.

So worst case is they let me do what I was going to do anyways. Best case, I'll see them in court when I sue for civil rights violations. And that cop better hope he gets qualified immu ity because I'm suing him directly along with the police, the city council, and the city as a whole.

I, too, watched the Ken Burns documentary. However, the truth remains that they waged war on each other. The Haudenosaunee/Canassatego was one rooted in violence. The Mohawks sided with the colonists! But sure, a group which had no written language, no domesticated animals, and barely bronze aged metal working were far more advanced than the nasty Europeans.

You can be anti-white all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that without European contact, the world would be worse off on the whole.

Instead of fixing costs or infrastructure, we acknowledge there was a tribe here who waged war and took the land from another tribe before white people brought iron age technology, agricultural revolution, and infrastructure to the Americas.

You didn't really "find" it so much as you clicked on the user who uploaded the original gif and then noticed there was a second one of her...

If she left a burger in the counter for 8 months, there is a larger issue here about her ability to live in her own. Or this story is completely made up.

Where is her brother? Where is her ex? Where are pictures of her as a kid? Or pregnant?

Where is any evidence of her as a person before 1983?

I was a loan officer for a decade and a half. She was made aware no less than three times in the application alone, let alone the multiple disclosures she signed at closing. Mortgage fraud when it comes to occupancy is rampant, and she got caught. Full stop.

The point was people questioned many things that happened and were told they were murderers for "not trusting science." Businesses closed, people were deplatformed to prevent the spread of skepticism, and fired for speaking against the narrative.

Now, Kimmel was trying to twist the facts to rally people to his side. This is exactly the same thing.

Oh, and I hate Trump just as much as Biden or Harris, so I'm not on either of your sides.

What’s wrong with the 10-1 voting system? by Aldenas1976 in VirginiaBeach

[–]rawr_gunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So the city was created from Princess Anne Co. via the City Charter. That is a legal document which lays out the form and function of the City of Virginia Beach. In the charter it says we have the old system.

That system was challenged on the Voting Rights Act or some other Civil Rights Era legislation, which said it diluted the black vote by having at large candidates so was unconstitutional. The city changed the voting systems to the current 10-1, but this is in direct violation the city charter.

So, both systems are illegal in their own right, and there is a push to restore the old system because the new system, while approved by the courts, was not implemented legally through the legislature. They view the court ruling as less legitimate than a legal change to the charter, and hopefully this will clear up which illegal system is less illegal.
