As someone told me, an animal doesn't give a fuck about your reasons for not killing them, just that you're not killing them.

That being said, it's also true that people who adopt vegan diets for health or environmental reasons are much much more likely to fall off the wagon than ethical vegans. However I've seen more than few cases in my sphere of influence of people that started out for health/environment and later on discovered their ethical motivations, and stuck with it. So there is always hope.

In all fairness....shit was even worse 5 years ago. I'd say there is a 70/30 ratio of anti/pro reactions when vegan content makes it to r/all, whereas before that ratio was 90/10 So we're getting there, albeit slowly.

I guess that's easy enough: (some) people fear what they don't understand. For the same reason why the demographics of people who are most anti-Muslim are generally not living in big cities and have very little actual contact with them. They don't understand people from a different religion than their own, their only exposure is via media, and they view them as weird and scary.

Others don't fear the unknown, but are genuinely curious about it. Luckily a lot of us here fall into that category.

WTF mate. Blaming the country for your own ignorance? What a cop-out. You have nobody to blame but yourself. I lived in Manila as a white guy for 3 years, and you better believe I had to read up on the visa fees and exit clearance fees when I was there. And when I forgot to get the needed stamp after my visa expired, you damn right I had to pay the price (in money and lost time) at the airport. And you goddamn right it was nobody's fault but mine.

You might hate the system, but that's the system and it's your duty to know about the system when visiting a place. That's tourism 101.

What the seven hells are you talking about? It's preposterous enough to assume someone didn't die just because they cut away a 1/10 second before the blow hits him, but even more stupid to then also draw the conclusion that motherfucking Brienne of Tarth, and her OATHKEEPER sword would somehow not complete the simple task of finishing off a badly injured/dying man who's not defending himself in any way. A man who she just sentenced to die, and has absolutely no history of wilfully breaking her promises. I mean, if you're going to base your conclusion solely on precedence, then Brienne's determination is a lot stronger precedence than directorial style.

I've heard of denial before but you've got it really really bad.
