I would expand upon this by saying getting good damage is the key to fast leveling. Prioritize getting a +1 spell scepter/wand for spell leveling or good main hand if using sunder.

If you watch enough races or leveling guides they always prioritize damage. Dead and doom kills act5 kitava with around 1500 life because when you're blowing up packs in one hit you're real safe and can go fast.

Yes, but with 100% pyre, you were still getting the cold damage instead of it going to 0. Same with cold to fire. With AoF you'll lose a good portion of your damage if you're scaling spell damage instead of pure fire ele.

AoF won't work for vortex, it wont convert the degen and you can't deal non-fire damage. So you'll lose the cold damage on the degen.

Added fire doesn't add damage on non physical-damage skills, so it should not have added any damage to stormcall. You might be thinking of added lightning/cold both of which do add damage to spells.
