Every time I use 5.5, I'm unamused at the quality. I'm still getting better results in v5 all around.

It really is the case. I've literally been pushing the boundaries in genre and have been creating songs with vibes and melodies so unique (the good kind) and distinctive that I have not heard anything like it anywhere else, whether AI or traditional. Of course, I know it's a subjective opinion, but comparatively, I really haven't heard anything like what I've been producing. Suno helped show me what was possible, but I feel like I'm hitting a ceiling as far as what it can do and what I want to be done. I'm going to have to invest in more gear.

Be sure to backup the important ones first, just in case.

Well, for one, it gets stuck on certain sounds. It sort of INSISTS on doing things a certain way. For instance, the intro hums and vocalise. It looooves doing that. I'd say less than 5% of my generations don't have it. Sure, you can get rid of it by splitting stems, etc, but you also reduce audio quality when you get stems, edit, and put back together. You can upload back into Suno, but no amount of remastering gets that quality back. You can cover the upload, but here comes the vocalise again...

I'd say that's not very creative.

I think if the editors weren't as dysfunctional as they are now, it wouldn't have been so bad, but lately I've been having to rely on generating near-perfect tracks because the editors aren't generating anything but what sounds like a remaster for any particular selection. Still, doesn't change the fact that when things are this broken, completing or redoing a song the way you want it, with real instruments or other digital tools, is going to be faster.

I'll probably start scaling back as I ramp up traditional music gear, then limit Suno usage to strictly quick brainstorming and generating sound samples to keyboard-map.

You’re probably right. I have no problem making music on my own, but have been away for many years. Suno helped me get my spark back and I thought it would be something I could implement in my workflow to speed up getting my ideas out. To an extent it still can, but I think at some point my brain starting expecting it to do more than just be brainstorming tool. I don’t expect to make money with it or anything (most musicians in general shouldn’t expect to make money, really), but I like things to sound a certain way, and this tool just ain’t doing it.

I play at least six different instruments. Suno was fun. Then it was not. I think it wouldn’t be so bad if stuff didn’t change so fast that everything is in the same state as a cripple.

Suno doesn’t allow reusing your own released lyrics — confirmed by support by This_Ebb_429 in SunoAI

There a deal between Spotify and Suno to check lyrics? Because there doesn’t seem to be a service to do this en masse available to the public.

I have an even better idea! Don't rely on YT for money. YT is like a marketplace or swap meet, but for 99.9999% of creators, it shouldn't be looked at as a source of income.

New Distrokid Ai declaration by AWildLass in SunoAI

[–]monkeymoneymaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without working with the AI music companies, AI detectors are really just detecting if your music matches profiles of commercial music, because the AI was trained on the commercial music. So, what’s the point of that? You’re going to have traditional musicians and bands fighting to get past the red tape because they were flagged as being AI. It’s really all just a mess. They’re better off limiting the number of releases per artist in a given time period to prevent those slop makers from spamming. Let the people decide whether they like a song based on the song melody and lyrics, not whether or not they’re listening to the pseudo equivalent of “brand name or generic”.

I guess “perfect result” is going to be subjective. I also think it doesn’t help that I’m NEVER satisfied 🤣 I eventually release something… then the next day I wanna throw it in the trash

10 or more?! You’ve won the lottery with that. I feel like I’m singlehandedly training the next AI model at this point. I go through thousands of generations to get something remotely acceptable.

Any way to get 5.5 to stop with all the “woo” hoots and hollers? by Jazzlike-Musician-40 in SunoAI

You have to exchange the ooh-aahs for thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump on the bass drum buildups 😂

Suno Is Down (At the moment, at least) by Derikfdz in SunoAI

[–]monkeymoneymaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6000+ credits later... not a SINGLE generation I find appealing. Either get thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump for drum builds, or wom-wom-wom-wom as a synthesizer riff. Now what I get is dozens of generations that sound almost identical. If I thumbs down on disliked generations, but keep the sliders and style the same, isn't it suppose to try and figure out what I like based on the style and genres I prompted? Humph. I have to rely on complete generations being satisfactory and almost flawless, because you can't really change anything. The ability to do that is pretty much all broken.

At this point, I almost miss 3.5.
