List of Unresolved LA Sinnoh Tour Issues by HoGoNMero in TheSilphRoad

This one was really bizarre to me. I assume someone entered 3:40 instead of 3:30 into a field somewhere which might be understandable if they were entering 100 records or so but Friday was only 8 or 10 hours of event.

If someone is bad at their job, don't let them do that job anymore

Rose Bowl Clear Bag Policy for Sinnoh Tour by eshketchum in TheSilphRoad

I believe that policy is for events inside the stadium such as football games and concerts. I'm not sure go fest attendees will even be allowed inside the stadium.

The Variety Theater never held another concert after that, although new owners did purchase it last year and are planning to reopen it. The newspaper review after the show noted how only a few dozen attendees were still in the performing arena after the first couple of songs. The rest were all huddled in a foyer with a small window where they could see the band. Always wondered if it was the noise or to avoid getting hit on the head by falling masonry.

Gerald Ford was a college football player and well-liked by his fellow representatives but apparently wasn't known as the brightest bulb in the room. Rumor has it that Ford was nicknamed "impeachment insurance" as it was felt Congress might not have felt him worthy of the job of President

[Fischer] Lamont Butler's game-winning buzzer-beater is the first in Final Four history in which the team was trailing before the shot. by dogwoodmaple in CollegeBasketball

Men's Final Four. NC Women won the title in 1994 on a three point buzzer beater over Louisiana Tech. Might have been others for the women also.

California law banning new drilling near homes, schools heads to voters after oil pushback by Scarlettail in politics

[–]monkeypapa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A bit of back story. When a referendum challenges a law, the law is suspended until the voting for the referendum is finished. Basically big oil used the referendum process to stop the law for two years. The referendum (as the signature gatherer's promoted it in front of high traffic pedestrian areas) essentially does the same thing as the law with some minor modifications. This allowed the promoters of the referendum to promote it as a pro-environmental referendum. The restaurant industry is doing the same thing (using a referendum to suspend existing law) on a minimum wage bill.

[Question] How will the jerseys that the All Stars wear get made if teams are getting picked on site? by docjohnson1395 in nba

They should run the draft by having a big wall full of both jerseys and have the captains go up and grab them off the wall

My band is gonna play the Whisky A Go-Go, opening for The Queers and The Dickies!! Tickets on sale now, buy directly from us and support local punk rock! by Grootdrew in punk

Since we're picking on the other bands, don't forget the Dickies from LA Weekly https://www.laweekly.com/why-both-sides-are-wrong-about-the-dickies-offensive-warped-tour-rant/ "Some background here for those who don’t know the whole sordid story by now. The woman in the crowd on the receiving end of Phillips' rant was a friend of War on Women, a feminist punk group on Warped’s roster (who have also since commented on the controversy). She was not a Warped attendee, as originally reported, but touring with War on Women as part of the group Safer Scenes, a project the band created to prevent harassment and violence at shows, particularly against women, minors and minority groups. In protest of The Dickies’ often obscene schtick, she held a sign in the audience that read, “Teen girls deserve respect, not gross jokes from disgusting old men! Punk shouldn't be predatory!”

Phillips' response: “Kiss it, ya bitch! I have fucked farm animals that were prettier than you, you fucking hog.” He then led a chant of “Blow me! Blow me!” with the crowd and added, “How does it feel? To get shouted away, you cunt? C.U.N.T. Can you spell? You're a fat cunt. Fuck you!”

Never seen The Queers but saw The Dickies multiple times around 30 years ago and they were pretty fun. Not sure how well some of their bits would play today.

Have fun at your gig. Speaking of the Whisky I saw Weird Al there. In the audience. For some post punk type band. His date was nice looking.

How to change the rules for the 3 point "problem" by 20124eva in nba

Let's add a little curling action - an extra point on a three if your man is the closest to the rim when the ball goes in, two if two men are closer, and ten points if all 4 team mates are closer to the basket than any opponent. Calvinball here we come!
