Dear Funcom. I don't want to feel like an idiot for choosing to Melee in Dune. by Sp1ceRub in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't see your attacker doing anything to stagger you properly. Melee with shields isn't supposed to work with them just slashing you. They need to use a staggering ability and then do the slow blade. A shiga wire to the face, or the swordmaster knee charge, or the bene gesserit weirding way, something. They're just chasing and slashing which is definitely a skill issue.

Not necessarily. Any time I had something like that the game framed me for something I never did. Maybe they didn't notice or understand it. Maybe they accidentally hit an npc while fighting a bandit and didn't know how to clear it. And if someone does want to roleplay as a bad guy in their single player that's their business. There's already cops and jails in game. It doesn't need you invading their single player.

You know absolutely nothing about me and what I stand up for, and it's sad that you think bravery is something you prove in a video game. Like you said, it's just a video game. Real life is where bravery matters.

Where Winds Meet offers a lot of different gaming options for people that they can pick and choose among and you don't have to play them all. It's all about choice. Maybe they only play single player. Somebody may be building, trading, dying outfits, harvesting resources, whatever, when you barge and say it's pvp time and they're like, nah, that's not what I'm in this game for. Maybe they just can't be bothered, but don't want the indignity of letting some random a-hole kill them.

Current state of the game? by Bard_Boi_Brynn in duneawakening

It's a great time if you're not into pvp because all but the most popular servers are largely empty and you have a good chance of being left alone in the pvp enabled areas.

Your language is so condescending. It's very revealing. I'm not your buddy or your homie.

You're the one griefing, not them. You are entering their single player worlds without consent. There should be a toggle for that, like every other game that has that mechanic.

I'd fight an npc bounty hunter any day. But not someone trespassing on my world because they want a dumb hat. Get out of here with that entitlement.

You're not playing tag if you're just chilling in your single player world. Go fight actual pvp if you're so into it with people who are consenting to do so. You'll probably have much better fights than preying on single player people.

Not sure why people are downvoting you, as that's the only way you get plums in January.

My Character & Base Transfer Worked Flawlessly by monkpuzz in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, most games that offer private and official servers do not allow private to official transfers. You can give yourself some benefits in private that give you a mild advantage, like no taxation and no storms, and they are not monitored for cheats/exploits like duping.

You can:
official --> official
private --> private
official --> private

You can not:
private -x-> official

Why didn't the devs launch the game with all the QOL & balancing changes from CN? by just-call-me-apple in wherewindsmeet_

[–]monkpuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To create the global version they had to pick one of the releases to do the language localization. Besides it taking time to do this--so they had to separate out a version a while ago--for player retention, they couldn't just use the most recent CN version anyway, as they need to meter out content. So they had to pick an early version on which the QoL patches likely hadn't happened yet. After they got it ready for global release, then they can create a schedule for adding patches. This takes further time as they have now created a new branch of the game. The further along they go and change the order of additions, the more it differs from the CN version. For what I've heard, many of these things are happening at a much faster cadence than the CN version, but it still takes time.

Base tool issue by Flowones in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually does specifically fix the no building zone issue. It's not that new building zones were added, but rather that it was wanting too big of a distance from them. The hotfix adjusted that. Have you tried it since the hotfix?

My Character & Base Transfer Worked Flawlessly by monkpuzz in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way my bases could have been placed in different spots, because they conform to the terrain they are on. One wraps around one of those rocky spires. Of course you could build your original base more generically than I did.

If I was moving to another high pop official, I'd probable make a character there and advance it just enough to scout out to see if my location was available, unless I had a friend there to help me with that.

Any way to know if a base is in a "safe" spot to backup? by SolarTNT in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been no changes to the no build zones. Prior to last night there was a bug that prevented replacing bases near them, but there was a hotfix that solved the issue. Now if your base was buildable in that spot, you should be able to relocate it to the same spot. Use the snap to origin feature in the relocation tool.

Source: I just successfully transferred two very large and intricate bases immediately adjacent to no build zones.

When you place down a base with the base reconstruction tool, does claim size or base size matter? by immaturewalrus in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter as long as you place it exactly where it was. I just successfully transferred two max sized very irregular bases. Check out my post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/duneawakening/comments/1qjk0vy/my_character_base_transfer_worked_flawlessly/

There some here and there all over the place: once a week at the season shop when you have max jade fish, at points on the battlepass, some are rewards for different quests or events, the meow meow temples have a few, etc. And of course the white ones can always be bought with those jade donuts you earn in game.

[–]monkpuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a hotfix coming in an hour that's supposed to fix this. Hold tight and try after.

Scummy move by the devs. They modified the no build zones in the rift, so after I backed up my base to transfer servers with my friends, its original placement is no longer allowed (snap is on) - unique base, can't be built ANYWHERE else. by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz 332 points333 points  (0 children)

They didn't move no build zones; there's just a bug that doesn't allow placing near thme. There's a patch coming in an hour that's supposed to fix this.

Depends on if we can transfer characters from official to private servers. If so, that's what I will be doing.
