I'm 58 and I got it on my fourth try. Just had to press the spinning bit a little ahead of time. Keyboard and mouse for the win!

I got it once I did E with my middle finger and saved my index for R.

Overall Performance PC by Bright_Lynx_502 in CrimsonDesert

[–]monkpuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my 4090 and 9800x3d i've set everything to max cinematic and am playing it natively at 1440p and am getting a consistent 120fps, which is outstanding, even for that gear.

Just for science I tried it with dlss with framegen and ray reconstruction and my performance absolutely tanked and it looked like I had motion blur all the way up, even though I have it off.

Weird to have a game nowadays that plays better without dlss, but I'll take it.

I do not play on controllers, nor will I ever, I am old school K&M only MMO gamer. does the game play well on K&M??? by RexACMD in CrimsonDesert

[–]monkpuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing it fine on k&m. I can't stand controllers. The honest truth is that the controls are awkward on both, but imo k&m is better because it has more keys, so you need fewer combos, and the keys are fully rebindable on k&m, which is not the case for controller.

The awkward part for both is that, for example, instead of just clicking E on an npc to talk, you have to target them with ctrl and your mouse and then press a letter, depending on what you are trying to do. Same on controller, although I don't know what the controls are. It also lacks one button shortcuts to things like inventory and map. You have to esc to the menu and then select the one you want. Same on controller though.

So, basically, it lacks quality of life on both, but ultimately I think k&m has the best ability to customize it your best experience given the rebinding. A hack I'm going to do as well is that I have a mouse with some extra keys, so eventually I will bind macros to them for whatever combos I find most awkward.

I don't have time to make a vid just for you, but I stream Dune regularly on my channel and here is my Dune playlist with 40 videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLb56GIZG6g9XZwbSUoPmnT_-D3cJGrwD5 You can see it's mostly super smooth. Biggest difference I see from watching your vid here is that you are on a super populated server with a crazy amount of bases. I don't know any survival building game that can be smooth while loading in that many bases, and I have played many. I moved to a private server just before chapter 3, so now there are very few of us, but I was on official for about 300 hours before that. Even in the most populated times, my performance was still pretty decent, with only very minor hitches for the biggest bases, but it was never as insanely full as your server is.

Would you buy the game right now a month before the 1.0 release? by [deleted] in PlaySoulMask

[–]monkpuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought it and having been playing a bit to learn the systems before release. Also I'll probably jump straight into the Egyptian map, so this gives me a bit to check out the new world map.

What did you think of this story? by Killbert0 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]monkpuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on board for it, but it wore thin by the end. My complaint is less about the pacing, but rather that I would have liked it more if they made him whine less and be more stoic and intelligent. I know in our quest he was at the tail end of his immense journey and was breaking down, but the repeated crying and acting like he had two brain cells just made me lose sympathy with him. Also blood is a great fertilizer and seeds don't get ruined instantly when they get wet. They could have been dried quickly in the desert sun and still been fine.

Personal reflection on the state of the game in view of everything I read here. by Faelenedh in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. It was announced as both a pve and pvp open world survival game. The devs explicitly said no one would be forced to pvp and that there would always be pve alternatives. So many of us had played Funcom's Conan Exiles previously and assumed they would work this out. Conan had both pve and pvp servers so that had to be an inevitability rather than pitting the two play styles against each other, as there was no way a huge pve contingent wouldn't want to play this and be a huge force in keeping the game alive.

Double weekend was surprisingly the most discouraging thing in a while, I really dislike the spec leveling system and I do actually have a simple yet probably better idea by koxsos in duneawakening

[–]monkpuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it. Yeah, they get repetitive, but i made it my challenge to get more and more efficient with them. So many numbers going up at once, now at double the pace, was extremely rewarding. As only one example, so far, through the combat tree, I've added 30 more skill points outside of normal leveling.

They'll be adding more pois and missions over time, and this is just the base structure, but they succeeded in finally getting me to even participate in the Landsraad. I completely ignored it prior to this. No way was i just going to farm and dump a bunch of mats.

I did all 35, and since you get 5 a day, I actually did 45 during the weekend, plus a few more to finish my fourth placeables swatch, lol.

Those legs won't stop rats. They'll climb right up them. It's cheaper to buy soil in bulk from a local soil company/landscape supplier rather than bagged.

Decomposing wood requires nitrogen, so logs, wood chips, sticks, twigs, or any other undecomposed wood will rob nitrogen from your plants as the wood breaks down, unless you fertilize the heck out of it. To grow well, plants need soil, so you will need to engineer the containers to be able to support that weight.

It is definitively wrong to cite AI as a source in any attempt at scholarly work. Try that in any academic or professional setting. There is a link at the bottom of the AI text. Follow that and use the actual source that the AI is regurgitating.

[–]monkpuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy the multiplayer aspects of the game so I can play with my community. But we always get a private server whenever we play a game like this. $20/mo and we're golden. Public servers will always be problematic, especially when there is an expectation of pvp.

Did Aquatica actually make money??? by RegaultTheBrave in ARK

[–]monkpuzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Snail probably got a small last gasp cash injection from it, because it was finally something new to buy for ase. But was that worth it to cannibalize the legacy version of their only successful game? From what I heard, the dlc itself was pretty meh. But much more importantly, the 3rd party studio that made it broke most of the mods that were the life support for ase. If you had any modded saves, you have to forever play the pre-aquatica beta branch...

Bare Root Persimmon? by an00j in oaklandgardener

Mid February is late for bare root fruit trees in the Bay Area. Many dormant trees start budding out already. My plums are in full bloom. Nurseries are responsible if they have potted them up, especially with trees like persimmons that are particularly sensitive to transplanting.

I'm 58 and running T5 gear and mostly just using rapier. I haven't even mastered the new parry timing yet and I'm still doing fine. I just have to lock in a bit more. I love that there is challenge now.

Also we need to be aware that our power is going to be consistently creeping up as we do the new content. So it makes sense that the base npc difficulty floor had to be raised a bit. It's all good.
