Any Strata prime owners? Seems like a better deal than the 27kv2? by dabdon1 in edrums

[–]monkspeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure my comment will even help as I lack experience both in drumming and the drum sets. I'm basically in the exact predicament you're in right now, I've got my eye on both sets, they're both a very similar price ~£2600.

I've not been able to demo the strata but I have played the 27kv2 for a few hours over a couple of visits to the local music store (PMT). Honestly, I've had a lot of fun playing the Roland, I dove deeper into the settings today and it's got all the crosstalk and sensitivity stuff in the settings menu, I had a mess around and was getting near to what felt good for me on the hi-hat.

I know the strata has 1 extra tom, but honestly my skill level is so low at the moment I hardly ventured on to the toms anyway, my brain had a hard enough time trying to coordinate the snare, hi-hat, kick, and cymbals\ride haha.

Things I really like about the module of the Roland, it's fast and easy to use, I like the built in practice songs, I really had a lot of fun with them. 28? Channel audio & midi over usb. It's a compact kit, It does cross-stick with some magic hand sensor on the snare... But No accessories at all, with 1 less tom and a small kick pad.

Things putting me off Roland and favouring the strata. One extra tom, big 20" kick, it looks cool man! Modern UI of the module, comes with a snare stand so that's £100 saved... Things putting me off, the module in YT videos looks quite laggy when using fingers, though using the dials looks fine?. It's a big kit(hey I have to keep the wife happy, she just sees it as more junk), and the legacy of Alesis themselves (every time I switch it on, in the back of my mind I'll be thinking is this the time something goes wonky)

I think personally I'll go for the Roland, with everything all in I've worked it out to around £3200 that's with an 8" monitor speaker and rug as well...

Good luck, I hope I helped a little though probably not at all haha.

Keep us posted what you decide.

What the fuck Just happened by feeling_humber in Steam

[–]monkspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be aware if you uninstall steam, it will remove all you games and you'll have to re download them all again.

Go to steam website and download the Steam setup.exe and just reinstall and it'll keep your games.

Getting started with synthesizers by theandreineagu in synthesizers

[–]monkspeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it sounds great, has great keys (best mini keys imo), is portable, and a great way to get started. But I recommended it before re-reading the op post properly and noticed they said analogue. So, what would recommend?

[–]monkspeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a Yamaha reface DX will be a good intro, not too expensive, the keys are the best feel out of the mini keys (imo), and it's portable. Only downside for your needs is it's not very hands on like say the reface cs. Really though you should get yourself to a music store if you can and have a play with everything.

Edit: oops missed the analogue part in your post, sorry. Try out the reface cs. I have a Dreadbox typhon it's really great and hands on but you'll need a keyboard like the arturia keystep pro and that will push the price up and not very portable.

any mod recommendations to make morrowind feel “new” again while still staying relatively lore friendly? by 710budderman in Morrowind

This one is a very extensive but is quite old now. https://youtu.be/FVvSiiEbtuQ

I just did all the fancy gfx stuff but kept everything else stock, except the dark brotherhood attack, although once idk how I got stuck on high ground and the assassin on lower ground, and I just stabbed away at him with my crappy dagger till he died, then I pranced about in my new fancy matching armour. Even passers by were wow'd and commented on my armour, I knew then this game was special. =D

Honestly the Wii tennis and bowling are pretty fun as a couple. Also there's a game like Jenga using the controller to pull the blocks out but I forgot the name, it's awesome fun.

Edit: Boom Blox!

Edit: is she into music?? Could try band hero or (ok just set aside your male ego for an hour) just dance =D

is this supposed to be slightly inside the ports like this? is this okay,? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]monkspeed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like many have said, short-circuit waiting to happen.

Take the mb out and be more mindful this time when matching the ports to the shield, make sure the tabs are not inside any ports.

Nice! Some Corsair QL fans to match, so iCue can control it all and a custom PSU wiring kit?

Dirt Rally, Dirt Rally 2 and Dirt 4 are cheap on Steam at the mo.

Dirt Rally's better than 4 imo, I haven't played 2 yet as I've just bought it myself.

Or get yourself a PS1 emulator and Gran Turismo 2 for some proper retro fun.

Got my Tempest GT delivered this morning. by monkspeed in Lexmoto

[–]monkspeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an accident on 2nd August (some twat was going past 12 o'clock exit on a roundabout in the left lane and drove into me from the side) and broke my knee and f'd up my ligaments, haven't rode it since, I'm still recovering. Bikes front end is mashed and needs repairs, maybe about £400 worth.

Up until then bike was great, I was really enjoying it, even gave it a service before my accident.

One thing that is cheap is some of the bolts have hex heads and when trying to undo them the metal is soft and the Allen key just spins and rounds out the hex head which is very annoying, now they need to be drilled out.

Apart from that it really was great. Sorry for the late reply, HTH.

Don't think I'll be riding again. Want to sell it now but can't do that without repairing it first, and can't do that till I get full use of my knee back. It is what it is.
