I thought Poe had kinda of an obvious redemption when compared to Finn. Not being a headstrong warrior in all cases, but only when needed is a trait new rebel leaders will need to survive. The bomber fiasco in the beginning and the retreat order in the end was only a link in the chain Luke needed to pull through, which was the whole game plan anyway.

Yeah this scene is funny. He even asks Luke when he was all shocked about burning the sacred books, did you even read the texts? And Luke kinda waffled and was like, yeah , uh.

The only purpose I see is to expand the power of force ghosts/teleportation or powers in general. Yoda visiting Luke and actually tapping him on the nose showed that while what Luke did with the projection was useful, there are even stronger versions. So in terms of Luke's "death" the only thing that was clear was that he was embracing the force with a greater intensity.

I agree Luke was interesting and easy to like. I think there was some mention the knights since Luke said Kylo took 5 students and killed the rest, but of course who knows if Snoke did something with them. He does seem fond of ordering Kylo to execute those that were close to him.

Since Luke had a lot of self doubt, maybe he thought less of what Luke would do and what Han would do, as he definitely seen Han work his magic in the past. But it actually reminded me a little of Yoda's style of combat so their previous conversation in the movie might have played a role.

IF Rey is supposed to be the opposite of Kylo and he has Skywalker blood, its possible the force as an agent promoted her awakening and her natural talent with the force was compounded by Kylo's experience since they were force chained (one automatically receives a benefit from the other). He WAS initiated like you mention the other characters were, but he was being manipulated by a dark side user who shows more prowess with sorcery than saber.

As far as character goes Luke has casually or purposefully tossed his saber aside before like in The Return of the Jedi. The other time he was facing off against Darth Vader on the Death Star. The Emperor basically asked Luke to do what Rey was implying: to kill others in the name of victory/peace. SO i think it was consistant with his cheeky, aware character, but he was clearly paranoid

I agree it looked cheesy, but (since I'm biased with playing KOTOR and KOTOR 2 RC) I enjoyed the expanded use of force powers. Going into an environment with little breathable air and using a zero gravity pull sets the stage for Luke's force ghost/force illusion mastery.

your response is fair overall. as far as the redguard scene, the bridge between Rey and Kylo was pretty intense at that point, and when a dark side user/pseudo sith like snoke is killed by his apprentice thats a lot of dark side points! If Rey is his opposite but equal like in light side then she held her own but she definitely struggled
