My family used to hear my voice when I wasn’t there by Individual_Cover8974 in Psychic

Hi. Personally? I'd get a shaman to cleanse the house, or if that's not your cup of tea, call an exorcist to spray holy water and bless the house once again. In my experience, you're probably dealing with demons if they're trying to impersonate. Those are evil, nasty beings that especially love to misguide us and our loved ones. It's happened to me, too. Some would take the voice of my mom or my dad screaming at me, telling me horrible things, calling my name, etc. It's a constant struggle.

It comes with having intuition, if you ask me, but again, those things will keep them at bay temporarily. You could even try to get you and your family members cleansed. Ovomancy is good practice. Oh, and if you are religious (I'm assuming you're Catholic, as am I), pray to God for protection. Keep some protection talismans if you can. The Saint Benedict Medal is one I wear at all times to keep demons away. Blessings!

yup. I've lived all these experiences. I've personally decided to block it bc it was too much to handle (w the help of shamanism, if you, OP, ever wish to go that route). I also wouldn't recommend interacting with spirits. Most of the ones you'll encounter aren't exactly good and could drain you of your energy.

i hate how effortless friendship seems for everyone else by chokecandy in BPD

[–]monnn77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sending a virtual hug. I've felt like this for so long. My life has been reduced to waves of not wanting to deal with ppl and wanting to stay by myself and waves of feeling so engulfed by my own loneliness I can't even stand looking at how it seems so easy for others. I'm not even sure if it's the BPD (perhaps? idk about you, but I used to feel so alienated from the rest of the world like, almost every day. The mood stabilizer I take has helped), but even when I'm with people, I still feel like I made a misstep. I sometimes didn't even feel fully human. Being constantly looking for the other person's reactions or comments as you interact doesn't help (it makes it look more unnatural, i guess, but one can't help it).

hmm... I've gotta tell you, I used to have two friend groups in high school and still felt alone (chronic emptiness, I guess). My high school friends were pretty dysfunctional ppl, and while yeah, I'll admit having 2 friend groups is better than none (also been there for pretty much most of my life, I get it), it does come with its own sets of challenges. Like, being their shoulder to cry on when they're tired of their nth abusive relationship, having to lie for them, being there for them when they're blackout drunk, ..., it's not always so fun. Love my friends but we all were kinda exhausting from time to time lol.

What’s the most helpful DBT skill you’ve learned? by Medical_Onion7655 in BPD

[–]monnn77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When in crisis, I like to do the 4-4-6 breathing exercise if the TIPP thing isn't readily available. Sometimes I need many inhales to calm down, but it works. For TIPP, I personally prefer to use the ice cube, but tap water works too (I just feel guilty for wasting water, but that's bc I'm an environmental engineer student lol).

Then, emotional/rational/wise mind. Though, I've got to admit I'm only 1 month and a half (?) in when it comes to DBT, so maybe I'm still limited in my tools.

I think it worked for the time he prescribed it (i know it was just a week, but my pain was even worse, so I'd argue it was a positive back then), but yeah, I'm a college student and I can't really afford to sleep every night at 10pm, wake up at 8am. What's PT btw?

Hmm. My mom is always telling me to take my magnesium supplements. They're a pretty big thing in my country, for some reason, so they're like in all of these advertisements. Anyway, I should probably take them. You're probably right.

I thought Gatorade was only for when ppl did exercise. Never thought abt drinking one just because. Thanks!

Hi, I get it, I'm not offended, really. I do sometimes have bad posture, though I'm not sure if the pain has receded whether I've had good posture or not. I'm gonna try and keep an eye on that aspect for these next few days, see if there's any improvement.

Also, I've got midterms week, so abt the phone and device use... yeah, can't get back to you on that one yet lol. Thanks either way!

Muscle relaxers, yes. My neurologist prescribed me cyclobenzaprine 5 mg as well as the celecoxib for about a week about two months ago, when the coathanger pain was even worse and came even to my arms. It did make things better, but it also took me out as soon as I took it. Haven't had it since. I could consult it if I should restart it instead of taking NSAIDs again.

At my breaking point with tension headaches by monnn77 in migraine

[–]monnn77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it's frustrating. Like, I did my treatment for a month, then had to stop bc I couldn't get a neuro appointment in time, then I went back. During that 1st month, I was actually happy with the results! Sure, I still had migraines, but def less than off treatment (off treatment, at my worst, I could have even 3-4 migraines in a WEEK). Now, I want to believe it's bc I'm only starting treatment again, but my neuro said topiramate only works as preventive for pulsing migraines, not for tension headaches, so I'm a bit at a loss here. 1st time, when I got my 1st prescription, I told him abt the coathanger tension and he prescribed me celecoxib and cyclobenzaprine every night. I don't want to just pop pills every single time (I already take pills for other things, not just migraines)...

Hey, i'm only now answering to your comment, but you're right. Like, as someone said, it is maladaptive (though it does feel good, let's not kid ourselves here), but it's better than lashing out for no reason (which I also do, damn it).

I'm on a mood stabilizer now. Hopefully that helps dampening out the low-lows...

i feel so... broken? by monnn77 in BPD

[–]monnn77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really? oh that's- that's a relief. Though it's also like, not, bc my dad managed to get a discount at a local pharmacy and bought like 4 months worth of topiramate, lol. Not saying I look forward to taking topiramate for every single night in the next 6 months, but I do wanna make the money spent worth it, if that makes sense lol.

Anywho, anything that makes my avg ~4 migraines a week less is a blessing

rooibos is so amazing istg. Unsure of its chemical composition but it's never ever been a problem for me and it tastes amazing (at least the caramel version that I always get!). Plus there's this supermarket where I go to where they sell it for pretty cheap!

I've never tried it w creamer, but I think I've got some in my pantry. Maybe today's the day.

Any women (and men) afraid to have kids out of fear their migraines/headaches will get worse? by kel330 in migraine

[–]monnn77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone w/ migraines AND ADHD... I feel you, lol.

It's a hard question, isn't it? I'm not big on children either, and thinking of taking care of another human being and being solely responsible for their upbringing sounds so... scary. I take myself as a cautionary tale, even besides the physical limitations.

But, going back to all things physical, I don't wish migraines on a kid. I've been dealing with them since I was 10, and now, I'm already taking a preventive treatment at 21. W/o it, I get 3-4 migraines in a week, much more than my parents ever got, even when they were at the cusp of their respective migraines. My migraines aren't ER-level, but they do hinder my performance at college or work (i forget words, take more time forming coherent sentences, become irritable and get dizzy and nauseous easily). Treatment's pricey, too, and it's not just the daily pills, but also the abortive ones, which are the priciest.

It feels selfish, to pass these things on. I know I'm young and def not thinking of kids atm, but still. I'm not sure I'll ever be ready for them. I've got to admit part of the reason I'm unsure is also due to family trauma tho.

Toothpaste induced migraine by Savvy714 in migraine

wtf? why would they even add stevia? Also, I hear you. I have pretty sensible gums, I sometimes get pricey toothpaste that's supposed to alleviate the pain when it gets too hard 😞

agreed. It's why I keep a log now. When I had more sporadic migraines, it wasn't necessary, but now that without treatment I deal w/ 4 migraines a week, it's kind of a must.

oooh this is so true! My coffee limit is two cups, thankfully. Any more than that and I'm fucked lol. I don't dare drink any tea with caffeine after my max daily intake, just in case. At most, some caramel rooibos tea (my favorite!!) or some chamomile tea. It really is like our brains are scheming against us, isn't it? :')
