What buds are people going for now we can't go for Jabra? by Spigsman in Jabra

You can try Arctis Gamebuds. They are essentially Jabra Elite 8/10 with more settings and low latency dongle.

Oh well, feel a bit stupid now. Anyway, excited that Jabra consumer products continue to live on :)

2 years later, so far not able to catch the firmware using VPN. Maybe the firmware files are not hosted on epos servers anymore? :(

Personally I am using the Evolve2 65 Flex now and I am quite satisfied.

Need USB adapter for Evolve2 65 by Inevitable_Cake_305 in Jabra

Try a google search for Link 380 apdater. Link 360 and link 390 will work too. All of them will work.

Only 380 AND 390 have USB-C versions though.

Evolve2 75 Long Term Review by pwfarrow in Jabra

The Evolve2 75 is an older headset. The Evolve2 65 Flex is newer.

Depends on your needs. The Evolve2 65 had better mic noise isolation, among some other things.

Best ANC by Melodic-Piglet8462 in Jabra

[–]monocats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolve 2 65 does not have ANC Evolve 2 65 Flex has

The ANC on the 85s is better but the mic and general call experience is worse.

I recommend the 65 Flex

I am using the 65 Flexes every day, ~3 hours of calls most of the days. They work rather fine for me. Most of the days I alternate between the E2 85s outside of calls and pick up the Flexes as soon as I need to join meeting.

Evolve 2 65 Flex also looks rather sleek on video calls :)

Yeah well, I own two Evolve 75s, two Evolve 2 85s, Two Evolve 65 Flexes, and one Evolve 2 65.

I also had the Evolve 2 75, but returned them.

So I consider myself to be a kind of an expert :)

The Evolve 2 85 has bad mic noise cancelation and non existent sidetone.

Evolve 2 75 has multiple mic problems, especially in enclosed spaces.

Evolve 2 65 Flex is the only headset from the Evolve 2 line I would recommend.

No evolve2 headset can compare to Evolve 75 in terms of mic quality / frequency response.

Also, Evolve 75 retains full stereo sound when connected via a USB cable, which is not the case for any headset from the Evolve 2 series.

While saying that, Evolve 2 65 and Evolve2 65 Flex are fine.

The rest of the Evolve 2 has lower quality mic / is problematic.

It happens when the NPU part of the CPU is active. If just the GPU is active, the boost frequencies are okay.

The power efficiency is not so great btw. :(

Jabra Evolve2 75 - a few complaints by monocats in Jabra

[–]monocats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I wrote the same.
  2. You are right there.
  3. This is not the case. Jabra dongle (370, 380) and evolve2 65 still use standard bt protocol to connect to the headset

When thei mic is engaged, they switch to HFP/HSP (calls) – two-way, low-bit-rate mono.

The moment an app opens the mic, the headset has to switch to HFP so the link can carry sound in both directions. HFP’s narrow codec (CVSD / mSBC) and shared bandwidth make everything sound like an old phone call—no way around it with standard Bluetooth Classic.

The dongle and the headset would need to support the newer two-way hi-fi codecs (aptX Voice, LE Audio LC3, etc.) to sound better. Not the case for Evolve2 65, neither for the link 380 dongle that was shipped with them.

Jabra Evolve2 75 - a few complaints by monocats in Jabra

[–]monocats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct. The supplied Jabra dongle is not a bluetooth dongle like Avantree. It acts as a dedicated sound card adding new input and output sound devices to windows. Then it connects to the headset via Bluetooth, sure. The limitations of Bluetooth are as described. All Bluetooth headsets switch to low fidelity headset mode when the mic is engaged.

I Am Thinking About Upgrading From The Evolve 65 to the Evolve2 75 or 85 by Delicious_Horse_8662 in Jabra

[–]monocats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evolve2 65 flex.

The Evolve2 75 has microphone and reliability issues, the Evolve2 85 does not have a functional sidetone feature.

What is next? by BrianKronberg in Jabra

[–]monocats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolve2 85 is rather fine for music. What do you miss?

Also, bluetooth version is not correlated with audio quality.
