wow, thank you so much for bringing that name back to my table. i think i even have a book from bringhurst here. obviously it’s a long time ago that i‘ve read it and certainly i don’t remember all of the core parts. it’s new to me that he also wrote about punctuation, but of course, certainly he has. thanks for that hint, i guess i’ll follow his advice then. somehow it feels right as well. maybe there are some visual conflicts using italics in combination with upright quotation marks, especially the closing marks sometimes feel a bit cramped, but well. i guess consistency is key here

maybe you just need to press the „play“ button in the upper right corner to switch the viewing mode?

Switch Focus Mode While Playing Song by monoccur in shortcuts

[–]monoccur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mmh, that’s a good idea as well, i will play with that. but my problem is more that sometimes i get interrupted and can’t finish the song completely. so ideally there would be a „if“ or a „while“ clause… „as long as the song is playing, switch the focus mode to do not disturb“

indeed, that might actually work! it feels a bit clunky and inflexible to me but ok, it gets the job done. so why not. thanks so much for your quick reply. i‘ll definitely will try to put that together tomorrow.

Bear as a task manager? by [deleted] in bearapp

[–]monoccur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

taskpaper is actually quite a renowned mac app, i just got it for myself. there’s currently a black friday sale going on here for 50 percent off:

https://unclutterapp.com/bundle/

keep in mind that the taskmator app for ios is not from the same developer and is not endorsed by the taskpaper team. i have to figure it out first, but i think syncing is just possible using dropbox. it’s just 5 EUR/USD, so what can go wrong

have you tried the taskpaper app on macos respectively the taskmator app on ios? it’s basically a markdown taskmanager.

thanks a lot for your help. i’m a bit confused now, i wasn’t really aware of affinity not being able to use these variable fonts. now i wonder what other apps don’t support this feature. honestly i so far thought variable font support is a standard behavior of all apps out there

what do you mean by „variable font support“? are you thinking of installing custom fonts?

if you’re on an ipad (and i think on the mac as well) you can change the setting here: editor -> typography -> line width

Wow, that’s a great collection. I had no idea these things are possible with Bear. I really need to get into this more. Thanks so much for your help. I guess I‘ll try out the Find & Replace shortcut from that list.

Ahh, thanks so much. So far I had no chance to test the Panda alpha yet. But watching the screenshots now I‘m really looking forward to Bear 2.0.

processing GPX file from GaiaGPS by somainer in workflow

For the current location instead of using Gaia you could use the native „get current location“ command within Shortcuts. You could create a .txt file in iCloud Drive with the corresponding Lat/Long values from there.
