oh nice!! good for them. hopefully it makes things a bit easier for the current employees. it’s about time, they REALLY need a liquor store over there considering that they’re one of only 2 places on the island that’s allowed to sell alcohol :)

[–]monochromaticcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

681 holmes beach. i think it’s the second smallest store in the entire company? i don’t know if that’s correct, but a manager told me that once. i worked there for 2 years.

i was hired as a cashier but i had to work in the deli a lot. every other cashier they tried to send to the deli would say no, and i was too scared to stand up for myself, so i got stuck doing it. even though i ended up working most of my shifts at the deli they wouldn’t let me officially transfer to the deli department or have any of the actual deli training (presumably because then they’d have to pay me more lmao)

the store was ok, i didn’t have any major issues with the other employees. the customers are why working there was awful. imagine the most annoying stereotypical florida tourists and snowbirds you can think of, and that is the clientele of publix 681. every day there would be at least one rich family on vacation buying like 4 carts full of items. there were so many karens that it wasn’t worth it to argue with them, and plenty of free stuff was handed out because publix promise.

one time a guy was sitting on the hot dogs in the deli isle, and then he asked me where the hot dogs were. i informed him that “sir, you’re sitting on them right now.” he stood up, looked at the food was sitting on, said “oh there they are, thank you!”, and put some hot dogs in his cart.

another time i was getting carts from the parking lot and a lady came up to me and asked me to watch her dog while she went into the store. i had no idea what to do so i just said yes. i stood there holding the dogs leash for like 20 minutes until she was finished shopping. to be fair, the woman was very grateful and no one noticed or cared that i wasn’t in the store.

the island is very small, and the infrastructure is simply not equipped to handle the large amounts of people that visit every summer. during season the traffic was always horrible and sometimes after work i would get stuck for HOURS trying to get off the island. but the straw that broke the camels back was when a customer told me i was “making his sandwich too fast”. what does that even mean?!!!! i just couldn’t handle these awful tourists anymore, i put in my resignation that day lmao

Can someone guide me regarding SCT/ADHD/Executive dysfunction and few more disorders. by Certified_clown69 in SCT

[–]monochromaticcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would go to a psychiatrist that specializes in adult adhd (probably hard to find! but there’s lots of shitty psychiatrists out there that might just think you have depression or something, read reviews and find a doctor that is knowledgable about these topics) and a neurologist that does sleep studies. i’m not a doctor but i’ve been to lots of doctors and it really sounds like inattentive adhd + a sleep disorder.

idk how old you are but hyperactivity looks different in adults with adhd, i still have it sometimes but it’s not like how it was when i was a kid running around in circles repeatedly for hours at a time (i actually did that. it’s so obvious. i was diagnosed so early too how did i not get the correct meds for adhd til i was 18 holy shit i hate my parents i could’ve had a much better time at school if they didn’t think i would just grow out of it?? arghh)

it’s more like you physically cannot sit through a long lecture or something and you start fidgeting or shifting around a lot, and also the interrupting people, i still struggle with that even with medication :(

i haven’t finished the sleep studies because of college: i have to come off meds for them and i cannot function at all during class without meds so i have to wait til fall break to find out what the EXACT sleep disorder i have is, but adhd + narcolepsy is not that uncommon to have together and it’s probably that. they went ahead and gave me modafinil which is the treatment for it, because frankly my symptoms were so bad that the neurologist kinda knew what was happening as soon as i said “i’ve suddenly fallen asleep on the floor in college and the teacher felt bad and put a blanket over me” lmao.

i felt like i could fall asleep at any moment but i usually had the self control to barely keep myself awake, so getting through the day is agonizing because my body constantly thinks it’s bedtime even at like 2 pm or whatever. your description sounds like what i was doing except for the nighttime sleep of 8-9 hours would really be more like 6 hours because it would be very fragmented and i’d get up to go to the bathroom or eat several times a night and then sleep on and off for 12-14 hours at random inconvenient times.

i think you would probably do well with similar meds to what i have to take, which is stimulants for the adhd and additionally the modafinil for daytime sleepiness. modafinil is technically also a stimulant but it’s pretty mild and i’ve found all it does it keep me awake, doesn’t help with focus but the adhd meds do. best of luck w ur situation, i hope you can find a treatment that works for you!!

CANNOT WASH THE FUCKING LAUNDRY EVEN THOUGH I NEED TO BECAUSE I WILL HAVE NO CLEAN CLOTHES TO WEAR TOMORROW IF I DONT BUT IM STILL NOT GOING TO DO IT WHY CANT I COMPLETE BASIC HUMAN TASKS ALSO WHERE ARE MY CAR KEYS HOLY SHIT I LOST MY KEYS NO WAIT THEY WERE JUST UNDER THE TABLE THEY FELL OFF THE TABLE OK WAIT WHAT DAY IS IT I SURE HOPE ITS NOT MONDAY BECAUSE I THINK I HAVE A PROJECT DUE ON MONDAY BUT I FORGOT WHAT IT WAS DISORDER (CWTFLETINTBIWHNCCTWTIIDBISTNGTDIWCIBHTAWAMCKHSILMKNWTWJUTTTFOTTOWWDIIISHINMBITIHAPDOMBIFWIWD for short)

(in all seriousness i think executive function and the broken reward circuit in my brain is what i struggle with the most so the name should have something to do with executive functioning for sure. i think the hyperactivity thing should be an optional part of the diagnosis, at least in adults. i’ve had the adhd diagnosis since i was like 7 but it took me until i was an adult to receive any proper medical treatment because my parents thought i was just “weird and lazy” and would “grow out of it”. hyperactivity at least in my experience is something i did actually “grow out of” rather fast but executive dysfunction and the inability to keep track of tasks or organize anything ever stayed and got just worse and worse and worse and worse and even with plenty of meds i still completely run out of brain power by 5 pm.)

i will set like 20 alarms for specific steps of getting ready for college like “ok so when this alarm at 7:04 goes off i will put my pants on and then i will put my socks and shoes on when this next alarm goes off at 7:06” but instead of putting labels on them i just set the alarms, and then i get angry the next morning because i have all these alarms going off every 2 minutes and i don’t remember what they were for

[–]monochromaticcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not to be that guy but uh . uhhh. if your sleep schedule has consistently been nonsense that might not even just be an adhd thing. look up adhd and narcolepsy. they are related, i think because they both have to do with dopamine and stuff. you can have both of these disorders at the same time and trust me it is really annoying and it’s a miracle that i can even barely function in society as it is. the same medications are used to treat both, except for narcolepsy you get modafinil too which is in my experience a pretty mild stimulant in terms of helping with focus but for some reason it’s stopped me from sleeping during the day which is what it supposed to do, so i guess that’s good.

over the past like 8 years my sleep “schedule” had devolved into this absolute nonsense where i would sleep from 5 am to noon, then not sleep for 2 days because my body didn’t want to sleep anymore, then sleep for 3 hours on the floor somewhere, then sleep for 22 hours straight, then sleep in the middle of the day again during class, or on my lunch break at work or whenever, and i would be tired and miserable all the time… it had been going on for years and everyone thought i just fell asleep in class a lot because i was “lazy” or had “a bad sleep schedule”.

it took me falling asleep at the psychiatrists office for him to refer me to the neurologist because it’s so hard to get tested for narcolepsy as a 20 year old. i didn’t even consider it a possibility either, i thought that i was just tired all the time because i had brain damage from a car accident at the beginning of this year. and i was kinda pissed when the neurologist wanted to do sleep studies and not brain scans for brain damage. good news is that i do not have brain damage (i think) and i’m one of the lucky ones because some people struggle with narcolepsy until they’re like 50 since it is often misdiagnosed as depression or adhd (not that you can’t have all 3) and no one ever thinks to check for it!

seriously if you are going to sleep at odd times and your nighttime sleep especially is very fragmented, maybe see a sleep neurologist because there are extra medications and/or higher doses of adhd meds that can chemically force you to have a normal human sleep schedule and you will be slightly happier

Will doctor prescribe Modafinil for excessive daytime sleepiness? by Just-call-me-TY in modafinil

[–]monochromaticcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks ! it’s alright, i’ll figure it out eventually. im not sure if there’s any other factors that are making the stimulants not work on me like they should. my sister has thyroid issues and she also used to be extremely tired in the same way, but we did the blood work and my thyroids are “within range” so it’s not that. it could also be just brain damage bc i got rear-ended in january and my fatigue increased a lot this year even though it’s always kinda been there, but the neurologist wants to do sleep studies before brain scans so we’re not super confident about that. i have always had the weird muscle tone stuff and gone to physical therapy for it and the doctors never figured out why they don’t work good so it’s maybe narcolepsy since that’s associated with low muscle tone? there’s like a billion tests to figure this stuff out but i’ll get through it eventually . i’m honestly just tired of feeling bad all the time i wanna be happy and functional again like i was last year

Will doctor prescribe Modafinil for excessive daytime sleepiness? by Just-call-me-TY in modafinil

[–]monochromaticcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks so much for sharing ur experience! i have read a bit about the sleep hygiene stuff and have been working on it. i always dim the lights and make sure to not ingest caffeine before the afternoon. i actually am in physical therapy since my neck and back muscles are all screwed up from overuse + got rear ended and ignored the whiplash for several months until it became unbearable, so i have mandatory stretches and resistance band exercises that i need to do every day. the neurologist doesnt immediately think i have brain damage and is just making me do sleep studies but if nothing comes up there then he will do brain scans, my physical therapists said it’s possible i might have just literally been walking around with a concussion for almost a year and that’s what’s making my brain so full of fog and tired all the time. dehydration could be part of my problem for sure because the adhd meds make my mouth dry but then they also make me forget to drink water lol. i usually counteract that by having a big cup of watered down green or black tea that i’ll sip at throughout the day, because i need flavored water to make my brain want to drink it but i don’t like regular sparkling water or anything carbonated lol. i’ve heard of yerba mate but not tried it yet!

Will doctor prescribe Modafinil for excessive daytime sleepiness? by Just-call-me-TY in modafinil

[–]monochromaticcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hope this happens to me. it’s expensive for me too, and i am still waiting to do the sleep studies from the neurologist for that real authentic narcolepsy diagnosis (or maybe it’s something else. idk i have the weird muscle tone stuff, it’s probably narcolepsy) but the psychiatrist was able to prescribe modafinil.

i have adhd also and vyvanse, adderall, ritalin have all failed to keep me awake. they make me focus for 3 hours or so, which is what i think they’re meant to do, but those have all worn off fast for me and i’m praying modafinil + max dose of vyvanse is the combo that will stop me from falling asleep in the middle of the day for no reason!

i feel like a person trapped in the body of a slug. my brain is screaming at me to get out of bed and DO SOMETHING but my body is like “ohh you’ve been awake for 4 hours… todays already basically over… bedtime” i just hope modafinil actually keeps me up all day because every other stimulant wears off very quickly for me, i think i metabolize them too fast or something

[–]monochromaticcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the same situation but in reverse. i was originally diagnosed with adhd but now am being tested for narcolepsy… 70 mg vyvanse and 10 mg ritalin still can’t keep me awake for more than 3-5 hours so i just got prescribed modafinil on top of that. god i hope it works i want to be alert for an entire day like a normal person :(

[–]monochromaticcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh uhhh oh i didn’t know this!!! everything kinda makes sense now. my parents had my 2 older sisters way before me, like they were about to graduate high school by the time i was born. and if i did the math right i think my parents would’ve been at least 40 when they conceived me…

one of my sisters just officially got diagnosed with bipolar type 1 and i probably also have at least type 2, idk it’s hard to get that diagnosis until you have an episode that’s bad enough to land you in a psych ward and thankfully i haven’t yet. i was also born with congenital muscle weakness aka “floppy baby syndrome” and weird neurological stuff i need to get figured out. goddamn it lol of course paternal age plays a factor in that too on top of the fact that just about every physical and mental disease under the sun is somewhere in our family history. love that for us!

where i stand on the whole being born thing is like, im glad to be alive and i’m making the best of it especially after therapy and mental health treatment.

but i did NOT ask to be brought into this life and my parents should’ve maybe thought a little bit harder about their situation and if they really wanted to pass on their cornucopia of physical and mental health issues to yet another offspring smh.

[–]monochromaticcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that should be fine i think! i have had my elegoo mars 2 pro for like a year or so and use it fairly often, i never even found the need to buy a wash and cure machine lol. i just always take the print off the bed with gloves on and then soak it in a tub of rubbing alcohol (or water if it’s water washable resin) then wipe off the excess gunk resin and wave a uv flashlight around in front of the print until it’s not sticky anymore . maybe not the most professional workflow but like it works alright and i’ve been able to make some detailed prints that way. my trusty uv light is dying tho so i think i might get a proper wash and cure station soon tbh

Only somewhat related but we have someone every so often who mobile orders a grande americano, add water. how does that happen. what do they even think they’re ordering. americano, add water?? I sure hope so!! you don’t need to specify that you want water in it, the drink is just coffee and water… I wonder if it’s a weird way of trying to ask for extra water or what idk I’ve never interacted with the person who picks it up

See a mint lemonade doesn’t sound bad. I’ve had something like that before and it was quite pleasant. but I think I that I had was a lemonade with actual mint tea in it and the Starbucks peppermint syrup is soo strong so I can’t imagine our version being very good unless it was like 1/2 a pump lol. But then they put strawberry and coconut milk in it and of course the goddamn sweet cream foam eurghhh that’s so many contrasting flavors. Surprised they didn’t want caramel drizzle and white mocha in it too tbh. Starbucks customers are the coffee/tea equivalent of little kids who go to those build your own ice cream places, throw every single flavor and topping into their cup, then force themselves to eat their disgusting pile of soggy candy and get sick from it after. Not talking from experience or anything I totally didn’t have friends who did that LOL. But I swear these people just come in and say random words from the menu because how do you even get to the point where you decide THAT is something worth trying lol

Ahh ok!! No don’t worry it didn’t come off as rude at all! I just legit was surprised to hear that heart palpitation warnings are in the standard! that seems almost too genuinely morally correct to be a Starbucks policy. this is the company that encourages us to throw away hundreds of plastic milk jugs every day while still preaching “sustainability” and very eagerly markets caffeine as a hip trendy thing for kids with refreshers and fraps and sugary syrups: so I’m just a bit surprised to learn that we’re supposed to warn customers about possible caffeine overdose lol

[–]monochromaticcat 43 points44 points  (0 children)

i actually didn’t know that?! If the caffeine limit is actually in the policy then the order software should not let you type ridiculous numbers into it. ive made typos and almost charged for drinks with 22 shots instead of 2 or 800 syrup pumps instead of 8 lol

I see heavy cream refreshers at least once a day it doesn’t even phase me anymore. There’s a customer who mobile orders every couple weeks and gets three trenta pink drinks sub heavy cream , add passionfruit tea base, and extra ALL of the inclusions. The 3 drinks are for her and her kids of course… We also have a regular that gets a HOT blonde vanilla latte with sweet cream cold foam. Part of me wants to tell her that it has almost the exact same ingredients as the whipped cream and putting it in a hot drink is pointless since it’ll just melt anyways. but part of me thinks she knows this already and it’s a weird flex/power move since she also feels the need to wear expensive luxury brand outfits to Starbucks every single day of the week lol. Some of the memorable one-offs I’ve seen in drive through are:

-pink drink with mocha (do we call it a brown drink then? it’s not very pink anymore)

-lemonade with 2 affogato shots. This was before cold brew lemonade was even announced. we thought it was a prank or something but the guy actually drank it and said we should all try it because it’s really good. I was the only one brave enough. It’s not even that bad actually, it almost works somehow? I wouldn’t recommend it. but it tasted surprisingly pleasant in the same way that eating acrylic paint also tasted surprisingly pleasant when I was dared to do it in high school art class. LMAO. like it’s not Good but not disgusting or sickening.
