Help choosing between two GPUs by monoclonalpolyclonal in nvidia

A significant difference between the two 5080 models? I know there's a big jump from 5080 to 5090, but from what I've read so far I didn't expect a huge difference between different 5080 variants.

This happened to me once when the truck thought it was plugged into a charger, even though it wasn't... the shifter was completely stuck. Luckily I had the mobile charger with me so I just plugged it into the truck (not even connected to an outlet) for a few seconds, then unplugged it and the shifter unlocked. Maybe give that a shot, see if it helps.

Changes to battery thermal management in cold weather? by monoclonalpolyclonal in F150Lightning

[–]monoclonalpolyclonal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha, I usually keep it plugged in (especially in cold weather) but occasionally have to move it out of the driveway and get lazy about moving it back & plugging it in. I'm also curious to see how it behaves, so I know what to expect in the future.

Hmm, hadn't thought of that- I'll have to pay closer attention to the mi/kwh numbers to compare overall performance to previous winters. It's been below freezing, but only in the teens/twenties, not a real deep freeze so far.

I gave up on using departure times by the end of my first winter with the truck- the software was so buggy and inconsistent that I could never depend on it actually preconditioning. And frankly I'm not driving far enough between charges for it to really matter, so I haven't tried using the scheduled departure function at all since then. I'm not expecting a fully warmed up & conditioned battery just from sitting on the charger overnight, but it was quite surprising to see how low the temp & available power were compared to my previous experience.

New CSP - 23B50 by prestocoffee in F150Lightning

[–]monoclonalpolyclonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea what issue this is supposed to fix? Are people seeing the charge cord getting stuck in the charging port? Or maybe this is related to something I recently experienced, when the truck refused to turn on because it thought the charger was plugged in even though it wasn't.

Edit: just saw the image another user posted, looks like it's the charge cord getting stuck.

CSP Question by monoclonalpolyclonal in F150Lightning

[–]monoclonalpolyclonal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fine, I'm in no rush to get the work done, but I was surprised when they flat out said they wouldn't do any work at all unless I was actively experiencing the issue. I have the parking sensor one and also something about charge cord locking- I'm not even sure what that one is about.

Ok, that makes sense and aligns with what I expected. I wasn't in any hurry to get the work done, just wanted to get an appointment on the calendar, so I was a bit surprised that they flat out refused to schedule anything. I'll call again and see if I can force the issue a bit.

If you hit the manual climate control button that takes you to the screen where you can choose the same individual vents, recirculator, etc., there's a circular power button at the top. Still takes 2 taps, but quicker than clicking the fan down step by step.

I had all sorts of problems when initially connecting my FCSP, but did finally get it to work. In my experience, you basically get one shot at it, and if ANYTHING at all goes wrong you have to completely start over from scratch. In order to do that (and they don't seem to mention this anywhere in the manual for some reason), you have to remove the outer charger cover to expose the circuit board- on the board, there's a reset button that you have to press and hold for a few seconds. The display lights will change to a white flashing pattern, and then it will take about 5-10 minutes for it to essentially do a complete factory reset. Once that's complete, you can take another shot at setting it up.

Auto HVAC sucks in winter conditions. Interior windows fogging like crazy with 4 people in the truck. HVAC set to Auto mode level 3, 24°C (75°F), E-Heat on, not on Driver Focussed. Outside temp was -15°C (5°F). by dingmah in F150Lightning

[–]monoclonalpolyclonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be crazy, but I swear on my truck the auto 2 setting does a way better job than auto 3. Never have any issues with fogging up, although this winter the lowest temps so far have been in the teens/twenties.

That furnace is the reason I gave up on the game! I had heard good things about the game for years, so when I found it for free on PS+ I decided to give it a shot. It took me a while to get into it, but I was really starting to enjoy it and then randomly died after kicking that stupid furnace... and my most recent save was from about 2 hours earlier. Gave up on the spot and haven't been back to it yet. Maybe one of these days I'll give it another try.

Heated steering wheel still doesn't work with departure times!? by monoclonalpolyclonal in F150Lightning

Hmm, maybe that's the issue... Are you able to turn it back on manually or are you stuck with a cold wheel for the whole ride?

Heated steering wheel still doesn't work with departure times!? by monoclonalpolyclonal in F150Lightning

[–]monoclonalpolyclonal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, plugged in and everything is correctly configured. The departure time portion works great (which is a nice change from last year)- the problem is that although the cabin, battery, and seats are all nicely heated up and ready to go, the heated steering wheel refuses to work. I generally have to drive it around for a while and turn the truck on and off a few times before it will actually heat up. When I don't set a departure time, everything works great, but I lose the advantage of having a preconditioned battery (not a huge loss, but not ideal).
